This novella is the first in a series

My name is Monica. I’m a singer born and raised in Los Angeles.
I’ve stopped dating. When I cut a record, or win a Grammy, maybe then I’ll be with someone, but every man in my past has done everything he could to make me submit myself to him, and it’s gotten in the way of my career. I won’t do it again.

But there’s Jonathan. He owns the high-rise hotel where I work, and he is gorgeous and charming. I refuse to fall in love with him, even though when he asks me to submit to him, I want nothing more.

Resistance is futile. Don't even try. Once you get to the end of Beg, you will want to read every single other book in the series and then you'll want to pound on the door of CD Reiss to beg her (aren't I so clever!??) to finish the series so that you can get back to your daily life.

Until you told me, I had forgotten that this is a novella series...and it really was refreshing. Sometimes novella's can be hard to read as stand-alones because you don't get a lot of background on the character. This one on the other hand was written very well and we got the information we needed when we needed it. The focus is on the here and now, and it was very, very stimulating O_O!

One of the things, for me, that makes this novella (and series) so appealing is that you CAN read each book in a short amount of time and feel satisfied. I'll be honest and tell you that I haven't finished the series yet...but not for lack of desire...(I am just waiting for my Kindle to be charged and then I have a date with this series); I can foresee that I'm going to enjoy every single page of it. Even if she tortures me by leaving my hanging at the end of each book, I'll keep coming back for more like the masochist I am. Update: While I am perpetually behind schedule, she has indeed read through part 4 at the time I am writing this! Devouring it!!!

So what is this book Beg all about? This first book in the novella series introduces us to Monica and Jonathan. She's a struggling musician waiting tables in LA. He's a bazillionaire real estate developer. She's warded off men after a particularly bad former boyfriend. He's not interested in personal connections after a particularly painful break with his ex-wife. Neither Monica or Jonathan want to be entangled in a relationship, so after a few sexually charged interactions, they both decide to engage in a no strings night of s-e-x. Holy hotness. Sheesh. Steamy. This is definitely an erotic read --not for the prudes.

This is the part of the plot that I thought was perfect for this setup. I love billionaire stories, don't get me wrong, but this is a new take on it and there wasn't that big sighting and chase. They got to the point pretty quickly, with minimal angst I might add, and it just happens to be that he is a gazillionaire. Not to set you up to be blindsided though, because the angst is on its way...I can feel it!

Layered into the background of this story are plot lines begging to be developed--will Monica and her band be able to get out of their contract with their douchebag manager and find a way to 'make' it in the industry? What's the story with Monica and her parents? Will Gabby be able to overcome her depression or will she succumb to it? Will Darren be able to live a life free from babysitting his sister? Will Jonathan be able to heal from the pain of his divorce? What IS Jonathan's story? I'm interested in seeing which of these things will be revealed and which of these slide to the wayside. But more importantly, I'm interested in seeing how long it takes for Monica and Jonathan to reconnect and how painful they will make it for each other--will they allow themselves to be vulnerable enough to give this chemistry a shot at a relationship or will they allow their pasts to forever seal them off from this connection?

See what she did there. She is awesome. I don't think I can add anything to that awesomeness that she just gave you except that I really enjoyed this story. It's about 100 pages so you can have a taste seeing if it is for you without investing boo-coos of time. I know that is something we sometimes don't have and knowing this is a six+ part story I don't want anybody to be turned off of it! Try it! Please!

I'm so excited we had an opportunity to read this book and I cannot wait to continue reading this series. Me too!!! It was HOT and the ending left me wanting to dive into the second one! Must. Get. It.

CD Reiss lives smack in the middle of Los Angeles with her children and husband. She likes to make pretty pictures and write dirty scenes. She eats dark chocolate and chili, together, sometimes with bacon, and doesn't care what you think about that.

There are a million more things she could tell you about herself besides that, but they're all too boring to mention in company.
