AP new - synopsis.jpg

At a boxing gym in Chicago, Mary Monahan accidentally knocks out the most handsome man she’s ever met. After she wakes him up with a few slaps and some smelling salts, the very first thing he does is ask her out for ribs and beer. His name is Jimmy. He looks like a Gillette model. And he’s just too hunky to resist.

Jimmy “The Falcon” Falconi is mystified that Mary has absolutely no idea who he is. Mystified and refreshed. He is, after all, not your everyday NFL quarterback. He shops at Costco, has a soft spot for Pinterest, and is in the midst of an epic losing streak.

Jimmy falls for Mary fast and hard, the way he does everything—balls out and like it’s fourth and long. And he realizes he’s finally met his match. That stamina he’s so proud of? Doesn’t stand a chance against her Kegels.

But what they don’t know is she’s also his new physical therapist, recently hired by the Bears to work on his rotator cuff…and groin injury. If she can’t help him, he’ll be traded faster than they can say “offensive penetration.”

In spite of the thousands of internet memes featuring Jimmy’s face with captions like: “HEY GIRL, WANT TO TOUCH MY BALLS?” Mary finds herself falling for him and his unrelenting desire to make her his.

Until a toddler shows up at Jimmy’s door.

And throws their lives into total chaos.

There’s no way I’ll fall for Wyatt Hennington.

He can keep his Southern drawl, irresistible smile, and those pick-up lines all to himself. I made the mistake of sleeping with him not once, but twice. It proves easier said than done.

When the doctor informs me I’m the winner of door prize number two, I put my life on hold and head back to Bell Buckle. Three months and if we can’t make this work, I’m gone.

The problem is—when the cards are stacked against us, and I can’t bring myself to leave him, I’ll finally know if he truly loves me or if all my fears were real . . .

REVIEW + GIVEAWAY + EXCERPT: Preppy (Pt. 1) by T. M. Frazier

PREPPY_BOOK_TOUR.jpg

PREPPY_LIVE.jpg

The Bow Tie is Back!
PREPPY by T.M. Frazier is LIVE!

**Spoiler alert for previous works of this series ahead!**

OUR REVIEW:
Shel: We've been waiting for Preppy's novel and it did not disappoint! We got the funny Preppy-ism that many times border on the bizarre, we got his brand of intensity, and we got a really good luck at what's really going on in his head. And let me tell you that for as fucked up as he is, he's also fiercely loyal, protective, and smart. I don't think any of that was surprise to me--I knew there had to be more to him than what I'd seen already--it was just comforting to know that the potential goodness I wanted him to have actually existed. Don't get me wrong, he's also very problematic. He does criminal things and I'm not sure if he and I understand consent in the same way--and if he were a real life person I'd probably hate him, but fictional Preppy somehow garners my interest and sympathy and smiles. Court: Yep, he's a little nutty in the head, but to now understand why? Amazing! I really enjoyed this story, and now knowing and loving these characters I am very excited to have this story to continue in this world. I also thought it was cool that our story begins at the beginning of when King goes to prison and we get to see what Bear and Preppy are doing in the meantime. I just all around liked the way the story was set up.

Shel: The great surprise for me was Dre. I had no idea this person existed and as soon as I met her I immediately tried to place her--had I met her before? Who was she connected to? How in the heck did she end up here in such bad shape? The more I got to know her the more I saw her I wondered how she'd fit in with this cast of characters and while I have some ideas on that, it'll be interesting to see how it all works in Part Two of this duet. Court: Dre is also a complicated person. I thought the writing was very truthful to what addicts go through, how they get into the messes they're usually in, and how they usually start down that road...just that it could happen to anyone and there is way, way, way more to it. The time that she almost decides to go to far, and Preppy of all people hold her back...and the back and forth, give and take of their time together - just whoa. And the ever constant warning that he can't keep her. Sadness and foreshadowing abounded, but we just didn't know how bad it would ever hurt when we figured out the whole story!

Shel: That's right. Part Two. I just about died when I saw that this was only the first book because I knew T.M. Frazier was going to leave me with all sorts of questions at the end....and she did!!! OMGWTF. Court: It is a double edged sword isn't it, to be so ready for more of the story, but sad that we don't get it all now! I am excited and ready!

Shel: Ever since it was revealed that Preppy is alive, we've been chomping at the bit to get our hands on this book. We had to know how the heck he ended up where he did, how he'd survived it, and what fucked up thing he'd do or say once he recovered. Pretty sure that's what most of us were waiting for--the answers...all of the answers and then a wild ride. Well, Part One of this duet only gave us a taste of how Preppy ended up dead and then alive and I'm actually glad that Frazier wrote this storyline the way she did--it explained a lot of his background and let me get to know Dre. And of course now, we're dying to get our hands on the next part to see what the hell is going to happen next. Court: Part Two is when things are really, really going to get real and back to the present of where we left off our other cast of characters in Bear's second book ... and it cannot get here fast enough! More please! Always more! We're as indulgent as our dear friend Samuel Clearwater, aren't we!

Excerpt

“No! I hate you,” she spat, as I continued to tug her beside me.
“Good, you can hate me while I fuck you,” I said. “But first things first. My lesson obviously didn’t take in that brain of yours. You want what you want and I can’t stop you,” I said, as we approached the train tracks which were elevated on a mound of gravel several feet off the ground. The warning lights flashed orange, the neon reflective barriers dropped down to cover the service road, while the bells indicating an approaching train clanged away. “And since I can’t stop you, I’m going to help you out. Bullet in the head was so three hours ago. I’ve got something even better in mind now.”
“Wait. What?” she asked, her teeth chattering. “You…you wouldn’t.”
“Wouldn’t what?” I said, turning around to face her, almost losing my footing when I noticed the trail of dried tears on her cheeks. I looked away for a fraction of a second to regain my composure. “You think I wouldn’t kill someone?” I cocked an eyebrow. “You already know that I’ve been there, done that, bought the motherfucking t-shirt, doll.” Her eyes went wide and she made a move to step back. “Oh no, Doc, I read your letter and I saw what you wanted. And remember, I’m nothing if not accommodating.”
When I pulled her to climb the gravel mound her knees locked up so I bent over and picked her up by the waist, tossing her over my shoulder, carrying her onto the tracks while she beat on my back with her closed fists. When I got to the top I set her down roughly and she fell backwards onto her ass, bracing herself with her hands against the large pieces of gravel under the tracks.
The whistle of the train blew in the distance. It wouldn’t be long now. Dre made a move to stand up, but that wasn’t what I had in mind. I bent down and pushed on her chest, spreading her tiny frame across the tracks. I crawled on top of her, pinning her down with my thighs. I leaned over her, my chest to hers as we both breathed rapidly. She struggled underneath me to get up, pushing at my chest, but I wouldn’t budge. “Why the struggle, Doc? This is what you wanted, isn’t it?”
She glanced up at me as the train whistled again. Her gaze flipped to her right, where the single yellow light from the train emerged from around the corner, shining brighter and brighter as it chugged closer and closer. For a moment she stopped struggling, looking back and forth from the train to me.
“So what, you’re gonna die too?” she asked, hoping to appeal to my sense of self preservation.
I shrugged. “I get bored easily, maybe the devil will make me his errand boy or something.”
“Preppy, this isn’t funny. Get up and get off the fucking tracks,” she said, her concern shifting from herself to me.
I shook my head and yawned. She wiggled underneath me, and although there was a train barreling toward us my cock once again stirred to life. Maybe I should just rip down her panties and push inside of her. Train or no train, it would be one fuck of a way to go out.
“You have to choose, Doc,” I said, making my voice as serious as I was capable. “Life?” I asked, screaming over the sound of the train screeching against the track. I pushed my hard cock against her core and she gasped. Her trembling turned into a shiver, her mouth fell open. I glanced to the side at the blinding light of the approaching train as it bathed us both in a tunnel of light. I leaned down, so close that my lips were a whisper above hers, as I shouted, “Life? Or death? What’s it gonna be, Doc?” My hair blew around my face as the light grew brighter and brighter. “Answer the fucking question!” I demanded, my hands squeezing her shoulders, my fingers digging roughly into her skin. “DO YOU WANT TO FUCKING DIE?”
With only seconds left until we became shredded under the train, Dre closed her eyes and sighed. When she opened them again they were glistening, fresh tears spilling from the edges.
She started to speak, her lips forming the beginning of the word, but before it could fully leave her lips I stood, pulling her up with me. I lifted Dre into my arms and took a running leap off the tracks, my legs flailing in the air as we fell the seven or so feet. Dre’s decision still on her lips, her scream surrounding the air around us as we crashed down into the field.
“I wanna liiiiiiiiiiiivvvvvveeeeee.”

REVIEW: A Place in the Sun by R.S. Grey

Title: A Place in the Sun

Shel: A Place in the Sun gave me a different look at what R.S. Grey can do. I've seen her characters work hard and crack me up and smolder on the page; this novel felt a little more melancholy..a little more tinged with seriousness. Don't worry--there are still many times (most, actually) where I laughed/snorted at the dialogue or the situation, but I think Georgie's desire to find her person..her love..really struck a chord. Court: It did. And once it finally occurred to me who Georgie is there is for sure a realization that she has a lot more going on in that head than she portrays to a lot of people. Deep down she loves so hard, and just wants to be loved like that in return. And to say that she picked an easy catch would  mean you might not know Georgie very well!!

Shel: Georgie's so light and full of life and so much more insightful than the chatterbox she comes off as and to read her internal thoughts and desires for the one man who'd finally caught her eye and her heart and to know that Gianluca was not ready for what she wanted was ..well, sad. Court: Yes, but I also liked all of the extras we got in this book. It was so multi-dimensional and the setting, y'all...wow. The other characters, and even the bed and breakfast...a big depth here that I enjoyed immensely.

Shel: I don't want to mischaracterize the tone of this novel--it's full of comedy and romance and sweetness. We all need a Georgie in our lives-so vibrant and caring and fun--and the way she handles the ever brooding Gianluca is hilarious and smart and sweet. To see his subtle changes because of her unwillingness to let him be miserable is gratifying. But even with all of these many funny and light moments I still felt an undercurrent of something more serious that gave this novel something I don't think I'd seen before in her novels and I really liked it. Court: Oh yes. She is light in the dark. She is in your face, and makes even us as a reader really evaluate her thoughts and see if we can think about things the way she does. She doesn't let Gianluca get away with ignoring her, and really she's larger than life. I really liked her, and after somewhat being overshadowed by her brother, I really am glad that while they are mentioned - this is really her book, and her story and there is no distractions by her family.

Shel: Pair the love story with the absolutely stunning backdrop of Italy (I've never wanted an Italian vacation more!), and you have a wonderful weekend escape in A Place in the Sun. Court: Yes! I completely agree. Book me a flight immediately, and you should read this book asap! It is not to be missed!!! I also told Shelley that we need to marathon R.S Grey books for the foreseeable future...stat!

When her mother’s incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country.
Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie’s only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her troubles away...that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she’s ever seen.
Gianluca.
After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale.
But Georgie isn’t asking for his heart—she’s merely intrigued.
After all, Gianluca isn’t just gorgeous—tall and tan from days spent in the sun—his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she’s ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.
I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things... everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors are Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things "funny". Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.
