But things were different for Rhys and me, until he lied, and I walked away. Only there's a chain between our hearts that I can't break. Even if I forgive him, a shadow from my past hangs over us; over this love that reaches all the way down to my soul.

“Rhys?” His name rushes from my mouth on a breath, and I’m off the bed, hurling myself at him top speed. Somehow my legs wrap around his waist and my arms tangle behind his neck. I couldn’t hold back and play this cool if I wanted to. Every part of me that’s been fighting to stay focused, to keep working, to be on, collapses against him. Surrenders to the feel of him in my arms and the smell of him. My fingers lace through his hair. I scatter kisses across his face, the sharp angles and taut skin warm beneath my lips. “So I take it you’re happy to see me?” He chuckles, pressing his forehead to mine, hands squeezing my thighs. “Happy?” I release something that’s half a sob, half a laugh, pulling back a few centimeters to let him breathe. “What gave you that idea?” We stop grinning at the same time, laughter dissolving, our bodies exchanging sensual information. My breasts flattened to his chest. His erection growing and hardening against my core. Our breaths mingling and hearts tattooing beats through our clothes and into the other’s skin. I move first, leaning in to capture his bottom lip between mine, sucking and pulling between my teeth. Licking into his mouth like there’s honey hidden inside. He groans into the kiss, walking backward until we reach the bed and dropping me so I bounce a little, his eyes roving over me head to toe. “Pep, what the hell are you wearing?” Humor and desire tussle in his eyes. I look down, laughing when I see the young Jackson brothers emblazoned across my chest, my legs ending in the footed bottoms. “If I’d known you were coming, I could have made sexier arrangements.” “Arrangements?” He quirks a dark brow, placing a knee on either side of my legs, hovering over me like a promise. “Lingerie would have been nice. Other rock stars have girlfriends who wear lingerie.” “Oh, are you referring to yourself as a rock star now?” I grin up at him, feeling whole for the first time since he kissed me goodbye a week ago. “That’s not egomaniacal at all. Is there a club? You guys have rock star meetings? Does one of you take rock star minutes?” “You are sitting in here listening to my music in the dark.” He leans forward to tug at the zipper beneath my chin. “Maybe you’re actually one of my crazed fans. Or a groupie. I might even find a Mrs. Rhyson Gray t-shirt around here somewhere. My girlfriend doesn’t like those.” “No, she doesn’t.” I shake my head, eyes never straying from his. A small frown jerks his brows together. He tugs again at the zipper, but it doesn’t budge. “Pep, it’s stuck,” he says. “Sometimes it does that,” I answer easily, enjoying the frustration spreading over his expression as he keeps pulling and it keeps staying. He places my hand over his cock, hard and poking through his jeans. “Well, it’s not exactly a good time for it to do that.” I laugh, grasping my zipper and tugging. Wow, it really is stuck. These are vintage PJs, older than I am and threadbare in places. I’m surprised the zipper hasn’t rusted before now. I sit up, bringing our bodies closer as I jiggle the little hook a few times. Nothing. “Just how attached are you to this Jackson Five onesie?” His glance burns hot across my subtle curves visible through the thin flannel, telegraphing his intentions. “Well this is Michael’s original nose.” I release a fake exasperated sigh. “But I do have my sewing kit.” “All I needed to hear.” Sorry, boys. He grabs the two ends of the collar separated by the zip line and pulls until there’s a ripping sound, the panels falling back to reveal my naked breasts and my panties. A wicked grin spreads across lips. “You naughty girl.” He runs a finger over the writing on the front of my calendar panties, carrying a current that simultaneously hitches my breath and gets me wet. “Wearing Monday panties on a Thursday. My little rebel.”   DTMS_immutable

It's time to come home, Finn. It’s been seven years since Daniel Finley left his hometown in Florida for the hustle and bustle of Chicago’s city life. Since then, he’s worked hard for his position at the prestigious law firm Leighton & Associates, even when it’s caused distance and isolation from his family and friends. But that’s all about to change. On his thirtieth birthday, he receives the one thing he never dared hope for. Something that was promised to him years earlier—a note. One simple sentence from the man he’s never been able to forget. Six words will forever change the course of their lives. Brantley Hayes has it all. Or so he thinks. When he first made the decision to take a job down in Florida, his family thought he was crazy. But, after years of living in the quiet beach town, he finally feels a sense of community. He’s surrounded himself with friends who are like family, has a job he loves, and owns a spectacular beachfront property that is his sanctuary. Yet he still feels unfulfilled, as if a piece of the puzzle is missing, and he knows exactly which piece it is. On an impulse, he follows through with a promise he made years earlier. A promise to call home the one he sent away. Nothing is as simple as it seems. After years of separation, the former lovers are reunited, but Brantley wasn’t expecting to encounter the high walls now guarding Daniel’s heart. Daniel may not be the same person he was when he left, but he knows that the first step to healing is the note in his hand.

REVIEW: Down To My Soul by Kennedy Ryan

The last time I 'saw' Kai and Rhys I distinctly remember having some very strong reactions...probably something like:

and

and....

Shel: Why? Because Rhys did some reallllly dumbass controlling shit and then Kai ran and then the excerpt for the beginning of Down To My Soul with Kai and her sex tape had me...dead. I was dead. Dying. I think I had several minor meltdowns in messages to Kennedy (sorry, Kennedy? But YOU DID THIS SO...).

So I went into this novel a little like this:

Shel: The first few chapters had me kinda holding my breath. How long would Kai hold out? How long would Rhys wait for her? Where's that tape and who all is behind it? And then...Kai and Rhys see each other and I could breathe. The sparks were flying, my heart began beating, and I settled in to see how the hell Kennedy was going to make this all better.

Court: I was a nervous wreck the entire freaking/fracking time! What was going to happen? I didn't know, but I think that my pulse was racing pretty much the entire time. AND I  told Shelley how proud I was of Kennedy and this book because the writing was AMAZING! Kennedy stayed so true to these characters voice, and it did not take but mere pages to fall right back into this story and know what we were in for. I am in awe of the writing of this book, and Kennedy Ryan. It is really an amazing look at how to deal when you love someone, and they think their way is the ONLY right way to do something. It is hard, and really, something we all need to learn from I am sure!

Shel: Of course Kennedy Ryan made me work for it. OF COURSE. (and I love her for it, truly).  There were all sorts of things with Kai's boss, THE TAPE, other characters who were intent on making trouble, and Rhys' family making things uncomfortable. And let's not discount Kai's stubbornness and Rhys' tendency to control things--the root of many of their problems. OH AND TRUST. Sheesh. Trust. If you don't have that in a relationship, what do you have? So, there were somethings that needed to be worked out (and I'm not even mentioning....insert emoji of me covering my mouth here...because SPOILERS!) but by the end Rhys was giving major swoon:

Court: Ugh, and don't forget about doing all of THIS stuff in the public eye with a boy who is one of the most popular boys in the country. I can't imagine coming of age that way, but I am obsessed with stories about it! Gah, it's probably a sick fascination I have! And trust. OMG. I wanted to smack Rhyson SO MANY TIMES for his pot-meet-kettle moments. What was good for the goose, wasn't quite as good for the gander...but it made for seriously interesting story telling!

Shel: All of my heart palpations and nervous putting down the kindle and walking away for a second were worth it. I loved the magic of Kai+ Rhys from the beginning and I HOPE that we will see more of them if (WHEN!) other characters from these novels get their own books. (BRISTOL needs a book. PLEASE). Court: We need a what-to-do-guide-when-Kennedy-gives-us-heart-palpitations-book...KR, please get on that! HAhAH! Bristol DOES deserve a book, because her psych session after living under Rhys's spotlight as his twin has to be LONGGGG.

Shel: So the moral of this gif story is that Kennedy Ryan kept me on my toes, as always, and I was so very happy with how this ended. Thank you for the journey, Kennedy, it was well worth my heart palpitations, my need to strangle characters, and my high levels of anxiety --and I cannot wait to see how you break my heart and put it all back together again the next time. Court: Ditto. You guys. Every single book Kennedy Ryan has written, we have loved. She writes diverse characters with some serious issues in their love lives, and how they overcome them. Whether it be external or internal factors, she cuts right to the heart of us as readers, and then slowly sews it back up. She is on our list of go to authors, and I hope that you might add her there too!!!

NEW: Hardball by C.D. Reiss

SBPR HB Release banner copy

Release Date: March 29th Genre: Contemporary/Sports Romance

Shel: About three years ago I kept seeing C.D. Reiss' Songs of Submission series everywhere--it seemed like it was on everyone's list and so I checked out the blurb, downloaded a few books, and before I knew it I'd disappeared into the world of Monica and Jonathan. Since that initial foray into the world of  C.D. Reiss, I've grabbed every single one of her novels and I always feel simultaneously satisfied and yet hungry for more. I've enjoyed the Drazen family immensely but I've also really enjoyed Shuttergirl and Hardball--they give me a little something different from Reiss. Court: Yes, it is so nice to see such a 3 dimensional side from her, and her writing. Her ideas are original and well thought out. I was excited about this one just as much as the ones before and especially because it involved a baseball player. Sucker for athletes...why, yes.

Shel: Hardball has this wonderful sense of lightness. It's funny and sweet and sexy as all get out (y'all, this woman can write the hell out of some sex scenes). We first meet Vivian, a teacher (I'm a teacher and will now be forever in love for C.D. Reiss for having a teacher as a character), who feels a lot like many teachers I know--dedicated and exhausted; I could totally relate. I absolutely loved her personality--it was a mix of deadpan humor, honesty, shyness, awkwardness, and loyalty that was so very appealing (I could totally see us being friends). With Dash there was this sense of confidence and control and focus (on the field and off) that was so interesting to read when paired with something he chooses not to openly share with the public. I appreciated how Reiss put us in his head and helped us feel his frustration, his rationale for insisting on his routine, and how he processed what was going on in his life. Putting these two seemingly unlikely characters together was not only entertaining, it was refreshing and gave a sense of newness to a genre that sometimes feel so repetitive. Court: I was confused by the story mid way through because of his thoughts. They got more and more out of control, and when I realized it...it made so much more sense to me. He had a hard go of it, and sometimes his need for absolute control in everything...and how baseball superstitions on what made him play great really effected his every thought process...then Vivian. Their beginning, and where we see them end is so strong...and in the middle her thoughts get a little bit...scattered. I see that she was in way over her head, so even that made sense but from page to page she was so decisive and then changed her mind only paragraphs later. Not that it is all that uncommon...but! For her...who was so strong about having feelings involved in relationships...well, I was so glad when that smoothed out for me.

Shel: The only problem with this novel is that it ended. I want more of those steamy texts. I want more poetry. I want more of Vivian's dad. I really want more of Vivian and Dash--I don't know what exactly, just more. I liked them so much that I hated to see their novel end. Who knows, maybe in our next Drazen book we'll see them on the screen in the background? Thanks, C.D. Reiss, for keeping it fresh and creating a whole new world of characters that I can't seem to get enough of. Court: I was very pleased with how things ended. Things get...real, fast in a hurry, and then I did what I do...shed some tears, and become so emotionally invested in these characters that I'm hitting my dang kindle to get it to scroll more...and more...and more...and it wouldn't! That's the worst. When the ending comes, and I don't want it to! I loved Dash for finally getting his head out of his rear, holy cow I wanted to smack him! And it was overall a beautiful book!

About the Author:
CD Reiss Profile
CD Reiss is a USA Today bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets. Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels. She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood. If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

NEW + GIVEAWAY: Beguiling by Alex Lucian

Hate: to dislike intensely or passionately; feel extreme aversion for or extreme hostility toward.

Scarlet Jennings, the preacher’s daughter who lived across the street, was a royal, uptight pain in my ass. When she looked at me, she saw a college quarterback asshole with rocks for brains, but she didn’t have a single word for what was happening between us.

When we were forced to ride together every single day that summer, there was definitely some dislike going on. Extreme hostility was a given, considering that we were spending so much time together in close quarters.
One night of bed-breaking, body-shattering, lose-your-voice-from-screaming passion had surprised us both, but it was only just the beginning…

OUR REVIEW:

Shel: This series has been so much fun--each and every character in this series gives me something to consider and I absolutely love how Ginger Scott ALWAYS includes a spectrum of diversity in her characters. I know I can always count on Ginger to give me more than just the same old stuff. Court: Right, I have come to expect the unexpected in a way that is pure Ginger Scott and we LOVE IT!

Shel: In Casey's story--Ginger Scott surprised me. At first I thought Casey was a cocky little thing and I wasn't quite sure what to make of him. The more I got to know him and understand his thought process, the more I appreciated him, despite some of his arrogance, and by the end I downright adored him.
Murphy, Casey's love interest, was so fun. I liked that for her bold outward appearance and her sharp tongue, she was really this soft, tender, and fairly shy character. I forget that performers aren't always these huge, gregarious personalities and she was not one of those. Murphy is really just unexpected--she's not completely sweet and innocent but she's not bitter and closed off--she's flawed and honest and wonderful. Court: It took me a bit to fall back into who Casey was. But once i remembered him, and how close he is to Houston...and found out piece by piece, and page by page the struggles he was dealing with...how he was trying to pursue his dreams and carve his own path even though that meant going against what others wanted for him. That is a hard pill to swallow, and you'll have to read it and see what I mean but Casey is so much stronger than he gives himself credit for the entire book! And Murphy. First, the name is great. Second, the song...is so great. The beginning of this book just brings you in and hooks you and won't let go! It is clever, and original and the story is just a well crafted blend of putting yourself out there even though it might not work out. And that is hard and relateable for anyone of us.

Shel: Casey and Murphy worked well for me. I liked their chemistry, the way that they cared for each other, looked out for each other, and took care of each other. I loved how music and family (hi Lane!) were incorporated in a way that enhanced the storyline of Casey and Murphy. And I absolutely am crazy for how this novel ended--it's a little different. The chapter before the epilogue was hard and emotional and so realistic and it made the epilogue that much more because of the choices made in the last chapter.  Court: Lane was a great character. Houston still is! And Murphy's parents are funny, and present in a way that I wish parents were all of the time. I like when family is a cohesive presence, whether positive or negative, in our books because it isn't realistic for us or them to go through life with no one (or in my happy, go lucky, semi-delusional perspective that is). The music. Just Whoa! Ginger Scott has this innate ability to take whatever theme she focuses her novel around, and makes it so flawless and beautiful. I felt everything those people were feeling by being at Casey's shows just by the words she chose to portray it. It is a beautiful thing.

Shel: I always love thinking back to my teen and college years, especially when Ginger Scott is taking me there. I definitely recommend that you read her books and keep a look out for what she's got up her sleeve--I happen to know it's pretty fantastic.Court: Exactly! She makes us nostalgic for those feelings, and teaches us something no matter our age with her young adults and coming of age stories. I have yet to come away unaffected, and I hope that never changes. I am absolutely in awe of this book, and can't wait to read it again. (BTW, THAT COVER Y'ALL!)

Casey Coffield has a growing list of personal flaws he keeps locked away in his head:
He’s never on time.
His list of IOUs to his best friend is endless.
Money is always short.
Goals are never in reach.

Oh, and he’s decided to add college drop-out to that list, too. He doesn’t really think that last one’s such a bad thing, but his family insists it is, so it stays on the list.

On paper, he’s a zero. But in person, when he’s mixing tracks for a sea of bodies at the hottest clubs and parties, he’s downright irresistible. Just-right stubble on his chin, body of a boxer and a smirk that stimulates all the right nerves—women have never been a problem. They flock to his swagger and fall for his charm…fast.

All except for this one.

Purple hair, gray eyes, a raspy voice and sass, Murphy Sullivan is a little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll. And her and Casey? They have history. He can’t remember it, but she wrote a song about him—and it’s not exactly a love song. But it is good. Damn good. And uncovering her inspiration just might be the key to solving a few of his shortcomings—not to mention open doors to his own big break in the music industry.

But sometimes dreams get messy when they collide. Sometimes life changes patterns. A past paints the wrong picture and futures get cloudy. The only question that remains is who will you choose when the dust settles—you? Or the girl of your dreams?

Shel: Courtney and I have a list of authors who are absolutely 100% YES WE WILL READ WITHOUT HESITATION, GIVE US THAT NOVEL NOW, and Ella Frank has been on that list for years now. We know that when we read her novels they will be well edited with great plots, strong characters, and romance galore. EXHIBIT A: everything she's ever written. EXHIBIT B: Finley. Court: I think I was living under a rock, but Shel had my back and got this one on our calendar. I love all things Ella, all the time, and this woman can write a book.

Shel: Finley was an unexpected surprise --I think that after reading the Logan + Tate series I made some assumptions about what this novel would be and let's just say that I was really really wrong in my guesses and thank gawd because this novel was better than anything I'd dream up in a million years. Court: I liked it. I was surprised at how the characters knew each other, and how things were so intertwined with the past. The frustrations and anger that Daniel felt with how his life has turned out was palpable, and I felt for him. Things were made complicated, and could've been so much simpler. They hurt my heart!

Shel: First, within pages I was completely enamored with Finn and Brantley and reading about their second chance at a relationship. Their struggle to know the 'new' versions of each other while reconciling it with what they knew from the past felt very real. I imagine that many people could identify with that weird limbo-land where you think you know things (and you do) but many things have also changed and you don't quite know how or where you fit. I also loved getting to know Finn and Brantley in the here and now while also getting to know them through the flashbacks that were woven into crucial parts of the plot; kudos to Ella Frank and her team for making those parts of the novel mesh so well together. Court: The way things feel apart for them were so hard, so I was afraid of how and if and when things would com to a head between them. I really enjoyed too how Ella brought in how they met. I enjoyed seeing each of their friendship with Jordan and Derek so much. I felt like they were much more themselves in those scenes, and I liked that way to get to know them. And when they were together, it was magic.

Shel: Second, I loved that even though there were few 'angsty' bits, it felt less overly dramatic and more emotional. You could tell that these two characters had genuine love and respect for each other and because of that they didn't play games or try to manipulate each other; there was a certain sweetness, or maybe it's a tenderness, to this love story that I just can't stop thinking about. I appreciated that this novel was truly an exploration of their emotional journey and not just a series of conflicts to get us to the end (if that makes sense?). Court: It does. And for that I have been conflicted on how much I felt for the story. I really enjoyed it, but I am feeling somewhat of an asshole because it didn't go *there* for me when I was reading it and I can't decide if it was because there wasn't the extra external conflicts. That is jacked to me, I realize, because normally if there is too much going on I find that annoying. SO! I have thought about it, and I really liked this in the end because, like Shelley said, the emotional journey these two had to go on for the prospects of forgiveness, happiness, and learning to be selfless and how that can encompass so many different facets was really an inspiring lesson for me to learn.

Shel: Third, after reading this novel I feel as though I need to retire (NOW) to the beach. This novel wasn't just a love story between two characters, it felt like a love note to the beach. I wanted to be in that beach house with those swirling curtains (where's my teleporting machine when I need it?!). I wanted to run on the freaking beach. I practically could feel the warmth of the sun and the sand between my toes and gahhhh, Ella Frank, you've ruined me until I can get there. Court: I hadn't thought about it this way, but wow. You're right. Ella Frank, can we join you on a beach somewhere please...STAT!

Shel: I am quite sure that I could go on and on about the many things that made this novel work for me--Finn's mom, the wonderfully erotic scenes, Posh Spice, etc. etc. but I suppose what you should know is that I could not put it down, I inhaled this love story in hours, I hated to see it end, and am hoping against hope that two certain secondary characters have a novel of their own in the future (please?). Court: The story is a flawless read, and really an emotional journey between Finley and Brantley and their journey to love. The will they, or won't they kicked up when Finn had to make some heavy decisions. Read this one, and yay for a little bit of a cameo of some of our favorites.

Finley-teaser3-jayAheer2016

BRANTLEY KEPT A discreet eye on the final student to leave for the morning as Mr. Finley strode down the stairs to the front of the classroom. They were three weeks into the semester and he was ashamed to admit that, with every day that passed, his fascination with the young man grew. At first, he’d tried to convince himself that it was purely academic. The kid was smart. He’d aced all the weekly quizzes, and Brantley was more than aware of the way he watched him lecture with keen, intelligent eyes that never strayed from him. Oh, he was fascinated, all right, but he made sure to tell himself at the end of every class that it had nothing to do with the mischievous grin Daniel would flash at his friends or the easygoing laugh that would bubble up out of him at any given moment. But he knew he was lying. Daniel was quite possibly the happiest person he’d ever met, and his joy of life lit up the room and everyone in it. Including him. When Daniel stopped in front of him and dropped his paper on the desk, Brantley acknowledged him with a glance before returning his gaze back to the notes he was going over. “Any big plans this weekend, Professor?” The question had been so unexpected that he didn’t think to catch himself before he replied, “Nothing too big. Just going out with some friends. You?” Daniel smiled at him as he shoved his arms through the loops of his backpack, and Brantley couldn’t help but look at his shirt as it stretched across his broad chest. “I’m going to hit the beach. Such great waves right now.” “Ahh, you like to surf. That explains it.” When the side of Daniel’s mouth crooked up, the effect was charming as hell. The kid was a knockout. “Explains what?” Annoyed that he’d made such a stupid slipup, he looked back at the papers in front of him, hoping Daniel would get the message and leave. No such luck. “Explains what?” he asked again. Brantley sighed and rested his arms on the desk as he studied Daniel’s inviting face. “It explains your hair.” “My—oh,” he said, touching the ends of it. “Do you like it?” Stunned by the direct question, he sat back in his chair and fought the smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “Do I like your hair?” “Yeah. “Does it matter?” Jesus, fuck. Stop it. Stop flirting with him. But it was too late. Daniel put his hands on the desk and leaned forward, Brantley toed the ground, shoving his chair back. “It could…” “No. No, it couldn’t,” he said as he got to his feet, shaking his head. Daniel straightened and tucked his thumbs into the straps of his backpack, no doubt to taunt him. His eyes were too knowing for someone his age, and when they held his longer than was acceptable, Brantley’s heart skipped a couple of beats. “Was there something else, Mr. Finley?” “You said you were going out with friends this weekend…” Shit, did I? “Yes, that’s right.” As Daniel ran his thumb down the left strap of his bag, he admonished himself for noticing every little move he made. He needed to get a fucking hold of himself. “Are any of them more than a friend?” If he hadn’t been watching Daniel quite so closely, he wouldn’t have believed the words that had just come out of his mouth. But he had been. So he did. “I don’t believe that’s any of your business. You better hurry or you’ll miss your next class.” Satisfied that he’d firmly dismissed Daniel, he sat down and made a show of focusing on the books lining his desk and didn’t dare look and see if he had left this time or not. He wasn’t sure what he’d do if he was still standing there. He reached up to adjust his tie, which suddenly felt a little too tight around his neck, and with each passing second that he was consciously not checking to see if he was alone, he swore that it was getting tighter. “Professor Hayes?” His head snapped up at his name, and when Daniel had his attention, he continued. “Are you gay?” Brantley’s eyes widened, and he wondered how his mouth hadn’t fallen open at the blunt question. Instead, he went with, “Excuse me?” “I asked if you were—” “I heard what you said. But I don’t see how that is any business of yours, either. You should think before you speak, Mr. Finley. I’m your teacher, and it’s time for you to leave. This conversation is over.” He flipped open one of the books on his desk and shook his head. He couldn’t believe the audacity of the kid—or the fact that he was so damn forthright. As he sat there, grinding his teeth in an effort not to look at his student—who was still standing in front of his desk—a bead of sweat ran down his collar and he cursed the fact that his nerves were getting the better of him. “I only asked because, well, I am too. And I thought it would be nice to have someone to talk to.” Well, hell. He couldn’t fault him for that. The only problem was…talking wasn’t what sprang to mind when he was around Daniel Finley. He clasped his hands on the desk and stared into the anxious face peering down at him. Daniel was worrying his lower lip with his teeth, and he suddenly looked very much the young man he was. “Are you?” he asked again, and there was no way he could deny that hesitant curiosity. “Yes, Daniel. I am.” As his words drifted between them, Daniel’s mouth slipped into a smile. “Oh.” Brantley laughed at that. He wasn’t sure what Daniel was thinking right then. He’d thought for sure with the way he’d been looking at him earlier that, if he’d admitted this, he would be fending off—or at least putting up a good show of fending off—an unwanted pass. But, instead, Daniel appeared thoughtful. “Does that bother you?” Daniel adamantly shook his head. “No.” “Are you sure?” he pressed, and the look that entered Daniel’s eyes then was so hot that he thought he may overheat. “Yes. I'm very sure.” Oh, fuck. Okay. Where the hell did the nervous guy disappear to? One minute, Daniel was endearingly awkward, and the next, he was looking at him like he wanted to strip him out of his clothes and—“Stop right there,” he said, and he wasn’t sure if he was telling himself that or the contradiction eyeing him with newfound knowledge. “Whatever you're thinking, stop thinking it.” “Why?” Yep, he was fucked. That wasn’t a word he generally used, but in this case, he was well and truly fucked. He should’ve just stuck to the run-along-now speech. “Because I'm your teacher.” “This isn’t high school. I’m an adult.” He sighed. “That may be true. But I’m your professor and this conversation is inappropriate.” “How? I just asked if you were gay and you said yes. I don't see what the problem is.” When Daniel aimed a mischievous grin at him, Brantley knew he was very aware of what the problem was. “Out,” he said, pointing to the door. “Time to leave, Mr. Finley.” This time, he made sure to watch Daniel so he knew he was actually leaving. He walked to the door, but at the last minute, he turned around to look back at him. Not willing to back down and show weakness, Brantley kept his eyes on his student as Daniel ran his tongue along his lower lip. “You should call me Finn. Everyone else does.” Christ. The kid was going to drive him to an early grave, but damn if he didn’t laugh at his audacity. “Out,” he said again, and this time Daniel pushed out the door and disappeared into the hall.   Finley-teaser2-jayAheer2016b
