Author: Lex Martin
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: April 26, 2016

Brady…
What the hell do I know about raising a baby? Nothing. Not a goddamn thing.

Yet here I am, the sole guardian of my niece. I’d be lost if it weren’t for Katherine, the beautiful girl who seems to have all the answers. Katherine, who’s slowly finding her way into my cynical heart.

I keep reminding myself that I can’t fall for someone when we don’t have a future. But telling myself this lie and believing it are two different things.

Katherine…
When Brady shows up on a Harley, looking like an avenging angel—six feet, three inches of chiseled muscle, eyes the color of wild sage, and sun-kissed skin emblazoned with tattoos—I’m not sure if I should fall at his feet or run like hell. Because if I tell him what happened the night his family died, he might hate me.

What I don’t count on are the nights we spend together trying to forget the heartache that brought us here. I promise him it won’t mean anything, that I won’t fall in love.

I shouldn’t make promises I can’t keep.

BOOK BLITZ: He Loves Me Not by Tierney Fowler

Title: He Loves Me Not (Lifestyles of the Rich and (In)Famous #2)
Author: Tierney Fowler
Genre: Young Adult
Release Date: April 20, 2016
Find on Goodreads
In the game of love, everyone roots for the underdog. You know, that girl-next-door type who wears glasses and has a shy smile and who falls for the most popular boy in school…she’s the hero of every story. And when the shy girl takes off her glasses and the quarterback kisses her and the crowd roars and the movie fades to black, people sit back and are satisfied.

But what about the cheerleader? The one he dumps at the fifty-yard line and the one who runs off the field humiliated and sobbing? What about her feelings? What about her?

He Loves Me Not tells the story of what happens after the cheerleader is denied her fairy tale ending. Maggie's life was perfect--she had perfect friends, perfect parents, and a perfect boyfriend. But when she's abruptly dumped in front of the entire county by that perfect boyfriend, her life falls apart. With her clique, her friends, and her social standing obliterated, Maggie is resigned to a lonely, humiliating senior year of high school.

...at least until she meets AJ Abbott, a musician who breaks every rule her mother ever taught her. He has no college degree. He wants to be a rockstar. He wears entirely too much black and leather.

But despite their differences, Maggie is slowly drawn into AJ's rock and roll lifestyle, and she'll be forced to choose which is more important--clinging to her nonexistent popularity or learning that maybe there's more to her than her beauty queen tiaras and cheerleader pom-poms.
Things did not work out with this cheerleader and quarterback. Instead, Bobby Bishop, the love of her entire life, had broken up with her right as they were about to receive their crowns.
Maybe she should have seen it coming when she slid her fingers into his hand and found it clammy. She studied his profile as he looked out over the crowd into the bleachers. He was so handsome her heart beat a little faster.
“Bobby,” Maggie whispered as the Principal droned on about the many accomplishments of their school’s returning alumni.
He must not have heard her because his gaze didn’t falter from the crowd. She tried following his line of sight.
Maggie squeezed his fingers and whispered again, “Bobby?”
“Yeah?” He looked over then, but his eyes looked right through her. It was like she wasn’t even there. Her hair was flawless and her cheerleading uniform fit perfectly, and he didn’t even notice.
A sense of urgency jolted through her body. She needed to make him come back to her. “I love you. You know that?” She reached up to press her fingers against his cheek.
His green eyes seemed to focus for a minute, and he actually looked down at her. He saw her, and his face softened. Her heart sped up. “You look beautiful, Maggie. You always do.”
It wasn’t what she wanted to hear, but their hushed conversation was interrupted as Bobby’s name was called and he was introduced as this year’s homecoming king. The crowd roared their approval as Bobby stepped forward to receive the shining gold crown on his perfect blond hair.
Both Abby and Caroline were on the stage with Maggie as part of the homecoming court and competitors for the crown, but she wasn’t surprised to hear her name announced as homecoming queen. Swallowing down the knot in her throat, Maggie plastered a delighted, surprised smile on her face and stepped forward. She could see her momma jumping up and down in the crowd, and her daddy was clapping and whistling. As the glittering tiara touched her perfectly tousled curls, the crowd began to chant, “Kiss her. Kiss her.”
A rush of excitement coursed through Maggie. That was all they needed. Bobby just needed to kiss her and remember how perfect they were together. They were meant to be together, ever since they were in kindergarten.
Bobby leaned in, looking like he was about to press his lips to hers. Maggie closed her eyes and waited. Her heart was beating so hard that she could hardly hear when the roars of the crowd turned into a chorus of disapproving boos.
She opened her eyes, surprised at the turn of the crowd, and saw that Bobby’s green eyes were apologetic. “I’m sorry, Maggie. I can’t. I can’t do this.”
And just like that, the most perfect boy in the entire world left her alone on stage in front of the entire school. He crushed her heart to pieces under his football cleat, and then walked down to slide his arms around a pale girl in all black.
Lifestyles of the Rich and (In)Famous – Released Aug 19, 2014
Nicole "Nyx" Green, notorious for her red lipstick and over-the-top personality, has just snagged the man of her dreams–the brooding Crashbang bassist AJ Abbott. Well, he was the man of her dreams. Now that they’re together, Nyx is realizing that he’s way too obsessed with his music to even think about having a girlfriend.

AJ’s obsession pays off when the band meets with record executives in New York City, and Nyx meets her half-brother Jeremy. Reuniting with long lost family is complicated enough (especially a long lost family who are tabloid staples), but Nyx never expected to meet Tristan.

See, Jeremy happens to be best friends with the gorgeous, arrogant Tristan Halifax, an A-Lister with a penchant for beautiful women. Nyx and Tristan might experience love at first sight, but rock star ex-boyfriends are hard to forget—especially when they keep writing chart topping love songs dedicated to her red lipstick.

Overnight, Nyx becomes America’s Sweetheart—scandalizing parties, frolicking with Manhattan’s Golden Boys, and being hounded by photographers. Sure, it’s fun, but then the press starts turning nasty—jeopardizing her relationship with Tristan, ruining her reputation, and discovering her old skeletons. Plus, there’s AJ, who’s suddenly morphed into a great guy, and now is fighting to reignite their high school romance.

Celebrities are supposed to have it all, right? Money. Looks. Love. But suddenly, a downward spiral doesn’t seem all that unrealistic, and Nyx will have to decide what’s more important–her new infamous lifestyle or her familiar small-town roots.
The long lost Wakefield twin. Blair's head minion. The BSC party planner. The original Pink Ranger. Stephanie Tanner's BFF.

In addition to crafting young adult and new adult novels, Tierney Fowler works as an IT consultant by day and a style blogger by night. She resides in Northern Virginia near four shopping malls, counts leopard as her favorite color, and once shot a reality TV show pilot...that never went anywhere.

Confessions of a Bad Boy Episode 1: Never Commit

I’m the internet's favorite Bad Boy - the guy who’ll tell it to you straight. No bullshit charm. No excuses. Consider it a public service, letting women know the truth about what guys are really thinking and teaching guys how to get what they want.

Yes, we were checking that girl out.

No, you don't want to meet her parents.

And no, ladies, we don’t care what shoes you wear - as long as they’re up around our neck by the end of the night.

Life was simple, until fate brought me back together with Jessie.

My best friend's younger sister, who I just happened to have the hottest one night stand of my life with four years ago.

Who calls me at 3 AM to get bailed out of jail.

Who I can’t keep my hands off of.

And who can never find out who I really am.

She’s off-limits, but I don't care. And when I need a fake girlfriend to help me out of a jam at work, she’s the only one who can help. Now I’m stuck sharing a hotel room with her for the weekend.

A long, sexy weekend.

This is your Bad Boy, signing off.

Excerpt

Chapter 1

Nate

I start taking off my clothes as soon as I’m through the door of my apartment. Shirt on the floor, kicking my shoes off, down to my underwear. I go into the bathroom and splash some water on my face, glaring at myself in the mirror.

There’s a rush that happens when I’m about to make a video. Not the cock-stiffening hotness of seducing a woman, not quite the intellectual satisfaction of closing a six-figure deal for work that I had no right to – it’s something else. Something I still can’t figure out. It’s a catharsis and a comfort, a deep feeling of fulfilment I’ve never quite gotten from anything else.

I boot up my laptop and sit on the edge of the bed while I wait, taking out the candles my female fans love and lighting them so they cast an incandescent hue over my body, the lines of my chest coming alive in the flickering black shadows.

I’ve asked myself a million times why I carry on making these videos. I don’t need the money, and all it would take is for a girl to recognize me, or for a slip to happen, and I’d be discovered. If that ever happened I’d probably enter a world of problems. Work would suck – if I could even keep my job – and I’m still not sure if it would help or ruin my sex life.

But something brings me back, something deep inside of me. It’s not quite the ego-boost – I’m self-aware enough to admit that - and it’s not even the idea of helping people – I’m not that altruistic. Again and again though, whatever it is still compels me to sit here, stare into that lens, and talk. And it’s not the kind of bullshit I roll with at work- it’s the truth. Maybe that’s the part I’m addicted to. The part where there are no boundaries, no rules. Where I can tap into the deepest, darkest part of what it means to be a man, to lust and to hunt and to conquer. All amid the liberating joy of anonymity.

I set the angle right with focused precision, just below my mouth, nothing visible in the frame but my chiseled torso, the waistband of my Calvin Kleins, and the blank wall behind me, and then I press record.

Confessions of a Bad Boy #234: The best one-night stand I’ve ever had

It’s the Bad Boy here. Bringing you more illicit confessions from the steamy shadows, tales of torn panties and roving tongues. I’ve got to say, some of the messages I’m getting from you guys are out there – especially the women. I’m sure I’ve met a few of you out in the wild before. Just keep ‘em coming, as I like to say.

A bunch of you keep asking me to tell you about the best one-night stand I’ve ever had, since I’ve got my method down to a science. It’s a tough question. One-night stands are always good if you know what you’re doing. Each one is unique, different, its own little adventure. That’s why I keep coming back, why I keep doing it. That’s why I’ve made so many videos on the topic. But that’s no answer, and you know I hate to leave you hanging…

So I’m gonna tell you about a one-night stand that might just be the best – it was definitely the most unexpected, the most unplanned, and the most dangerous. The one that I still think about sometimes, however much I try not to…

REVIEW: Ladies Man by Katy Evans

OUR REVIEW:
Court: I think we should preface our review by saying that if you don't want to be mentally, physically, sexually, spiritually...(insert your -ally here) frustrated by the hero of this tale...then...take a deep, deep breath! Tahoe Roth is every bit the 'Ladies Man' he is professed to be...and holy cowza these characters were bound and determined to KILL ME by the failure to just GO-FOR-IT! Shel: She's not kidding; I wanted to hurt a mutha--he was so frustrating.

Court: So, critically, getting to know Regina is difficult. Her thoughts are...stilted. And, I think that is is easier to identify with the writing if we think of it more as Regina's inner-thoughts/journal than anything but time really moves quickly chapter to chapter. Tahoe is almost an irredeemable hero, and that was difficult for me to get used to. He starts out as such a playboy, screwing anything that moves, and I couldn't help but wonder...how do we come back from this? a lot. Will he scare Regina away for good? Will I be broken hearted by the end of this...more so than I am now? He was a hard guy to like. We're never in his head, so we know a lot of stuff is going on with him emotionally, but we don't really know what. I wish a little bit we had a few of his thoughts at the beginning of each chapter or something, and I might've liked him better. Shel--I agree with all of this--Regina's thoughts are such a hot mess--she wants him, she doesn't; she's strong, she isn't and I just wanted to stick her on therapist's couch and get her some help. Meanwhile Tahoe and his smirk?! Gah. Fortunately, they both find ways to redeem themselves but I was quite frustrated with them both at times.

Court: The thing I loved the most about this story is the journey that Regina is on...to finding herself. I identified 100% with her on this one, and once you figure out that some of the frustrating decisions she makes...albeit, over and over, there is a reason behind it. She is on a journey. And the loving yourself journey is one that Shel and I both always enjoy more than even the love story. And if you're hoping for a lot of steamy scenes like with REAL, ...well, go read REAL because this one is a slower burner, but fast page turner! Shel: It was a quick read; I'll admit sometimes I was hate reading because Regina's "boyfriend" and Tahoe's ridiculous behavior made me angry and so I plowed through that to see if I was going to hate them more or find them like-able.

Court: Overall, I was pleased with Regina's journey, equally displeased with Tahoe's decision making, but invested enough to stay up preettttty darn late to see where their journey took us. Trent is a douche canoe, and frienimies to friends, to hopefully more is a story that I like a lot most days of the week. SO! Check it out! And...whoa that cover, y'all.Shel: *drools* that cover, yo.

TAHOE ROTH.
Irreverent, cocky, playful and naughty.
He’s not the guy you date.
He’s the one night stand.
The one your mother warned you about.
The one your body craves.

You’d think the man who called me succulent would want to strip me down and spread me out on his bed—like he’s done with countless others.
But he passed on my offer….
Just like I’d once passed on his.
He’s wary, like I am.
He’s broken, like I am.
And everyone knows two broken parts can’t ever make a whole.
Tahoe and I are strictly friends.
So I distract myself with other men.
He doesn’t think my new man is good enough. This blond blue-eyed beast doesn’t think any man is—himself included.
But the more time we spend together, the more confused I feel.
I'm trying to open myself to love.
Yet I'm quickly realizing that the only man I want is Tahoe Roth.
The one man who will surely break my heart.

REVIEW + GIVEAWAY: Shameless by Lex Martin

Title: Shameless
Author: Lex Martin
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: April 26, 2016

OUR REVIEW:

This was our first Lex Martin novel and I have to admit that I was a little surprised. I was surprised because after following her on social media I've always associated her with this fun-loving, happy, funny, dirty talking persona and assumed that her personality would be mirrored in her novels and in the case of Shameless my assumptions were only partially correct. While there are definitely many moments of humor and sweetness and dirty talking, there was also a pervading heaviness (which makes sense considering what both Brady and Kat are dealing with). As Brady and Kat both grapple with losing people they love, they learn to lean on each other and it is in this process of grieving and coping that we see strangers become friends and friends become lovers. Martin's deliberate pacing --not too fast and not too slow-- worked well and made something that may seem a little unbelievable in the 'real world' totally work and seem plausible.

Other things that really worked for me were the sexy sexy times, the detailed descriptions of the small Texas town (shout out to all the southerners out there, y'all!), the hard work and exhaustion of working full time and figuring out how to be a 'parent', and the constant sense of anxiety about the financial challenges both Brady and Kat were living with--the attention to these details never bogged me down and really enhanced the overall reading experience for me.

Lex Martin has been on my radar for quite a while now and after reading Shameless I know I will go back and read her first three novels and will be on the look out for the upcoming ones. If she's new to you too, try out Shameless and jump on the Lex Martin bandwagon.

REVIEW: On the Edge of Gone by Corrine Duyvis

On the Edge of Gone is unlike anything I've read this year. Corrine Duyvis, an author new to me, built a world that seemed grounded in the now and yet futuristic all at the same time and she shared that through the eyes of her autistic heroine, Denise.

In On the Edge of Gone, the world as we know it is ending. We see Denise and her family and friends living in the immediate before and the immediate after, trying to process how to live in this new existence, this sort of limbo-land where nothing is exactly like you might think it would be. Tough decisions must be made about whether to stay on Earth or leave and especially hard for Denise is what to do with her drug addicted mother and her M.I.A. sister.

I very much enjoyed thinking about all of the problems and solutions Duyvis offered and I especially enjoyed that we saw it through the eyes of Denise. As someone with autistic family members and someone who works with autistic students, it can be difficult to find novels with characters who give us this perspective in a way that is honest and complex and dynamic. Additionally, it is evident that Duyvis sees the value of diversity in the world of her characters and is something that I wish was more commonplace and therefore not worth mentioning; unfortunately our novel world hasn't quite caught up to the world's demographics so it's something I feel is very much worth noting.

If you're looking for something slightly futuristic and yet grounded in the world we recognize; if you're looking for diverse literature; if you're looking for a novel that asks you to think about the end of the world as we know it, On the Edge of Gone is a fantastic choice.

My eyes glisten with tears as I scrawl my signature at the bottom of the letter, touch my fingers to my lips, press them onto her name, and close my journal. I look over to my left where Kyle is softly snoring, sleeping soundly. I mouth the words ‘I love you’ to him, touch his back lightly, put my journal in my night table drawer, and turn out the soft light by my bedside. I curl my body into his, tuck my head onto his chest, and hold tight.
I love this man with all that I am, and I love the father that hi is going to be.

My heart is full of hope.
