OUR REVIEW:

I was very fortunate to be an early reader for The Kingmaker and I'm so excited that it's now out in the world and readers are seeing how special it is.

I can't seem to stop thinking about the characters; I felt so invested in their stories. The heartache, the conflicts, the hope and longing, lust and love had me all up in my feelings (I had some strong feelings about some things, y'all) and I felt like I read it in record time --I couldn't put it down.

And while this is definitely a KENNEDY RYAN book stylistically and pacing wise, I love that she keeps us on our toes with new characters and conflicts and new things to consider when it comes to our world and those who inhabit it, the choices they make, and how we feel about those choices.

From the very first read to the most recent one, I've been thinking about these characters...wondering what Kennedy has in store for them in the second book. ETA--I've finished book two and just you wait, you guys, JUST.YOU.WAIT. This series is one of the best of the year and I can see from all of the love The Kingmaker is getting, that you all agree.

Power. Passion. Betrayal.
Kennedy Ryan delivers the epic first installment of the All the King's Men Duet.
Raised to rule, bred to lead and weaned on a diet of ruthless ambition.
In a world of haves and have nots, my family has it all, and I want nothing to do with it.
My path takes me far from home and paints me as the black sheep. At odds with my father, I'm determined to build my own empire. I have rules, but Lennix Hunter is the exception to every one of them. From the moment we meet, something sparks between us. But my family stole from hers and my father is the man she hates most. I lied to have her, and will do anything to keep her. Though she tries to hate me, too, the inexorable pull between us will not be denied.
And neither will I.

Excerpt

“What do you want?” The look he pours over me is hot oil, burning me even through serviceable layers of cotton. His heated perusal caresses my face, sluices over my breasts and hips, and then pools at my feet. “Oh, that you won’t ever get again,” I say, my voice a soft, certain promise. “I don’t screw liars. I’m particular that way.” “Never say never,” he drawls, tilting up my chin with his finger. “Nev–” He crushes the word between our mouths. It falls apart in the scorching, sweet tangle of lips and teeth. With one hand, he digs his fingers into my hair. The other splays across my lower back, his grip on me almost convulsive, urging me up and closer. I’m in stasis. I’m completely startled by the kiss, unable to respond. I send a desperate message to my brain. Move. Pull back. Push him away. But the urgent glide of his hand down my spine to cup my ass melts my thoughts to liquid and they swim in my head. I can’t pull back, and all hope of resistance dissolves when he presses his thumb to my chin, prying me open. He stalks my tongue, hunts down a response, licking and sucking and groaning and growling. His hands tighten on me until I strain up to seek him, yanking his hair, pulling him even closer. “Dammit, Nix,” he mutters between kisses. His hand wanders down my neck and across my shoulder, and cups my breast, twisting the nipple through flimsy barriers of cotton and lace. He shoves up my skirt, pulling my legs wider, and pushes my panties aside, his fingers invading me. My body remembers this mad craving that claws out of my bones—that wants out. That wants him. Under his rough touch, my body blooms and my hips rock. “That’s it,” he says, taking my earlobe between his lips. My head falls back and I moan. It’s so damn good. His touch awakens me. His hands, his kisses bring me to life. It feels like I’m taking my first deep breath since we were last together, and it fills my lungs, seeps into my pores. “I missed you,” he says, sucking my lips and kissing the corners, quick, hungry. “I’m sorry. Baby, I—” “Stop talking.” I reach between us to loosen his belt, catching his zipper and dragging it down, dragging him out. “Shut up.”

NEW: Ruin by Laurelin Paige

RUIN (Slay #2) by Laurelin Paige Release Date: October 29th

AVAILABLE NOW:
Amazon Universal: http://mybook.to/SlayRuin

Blurb: With her heart literally in his hands, Celia will have to try and bargain with a devil.
Edward Fasbender is my captor.
Trapped on this island he owns everything on--including, it seems, me.
He told me he would break me, but I thought he meant in the bedroom. It turns out Edward is playing a completely different game.
And he won't stop until he's ruined me.
Slay Two: Ruin is the second book in the Slay Quartet. Slay One: Rivalry should be read first.

Excerpt: Yes, she was calculating and manipulative, and she was very spoiled about getting her way, but that was all surface. She was an onion. There were layers and layers underneath, parts of her that she held away. Parts she showed no one. For whatever reason, I’d caught sight of what she kept hidden, whether she’d meant for that to happen or not, I couldn’t be sure. Regardless, I was captivated. There was so much to see there, so much to take down. So much of her to know and own and destroy and redesign, and like an old habit, I couldn’t break away.
She was an addiction, and I wanted to feed on it. She wasn’t supposed to be like that.
She wasn’t supposed to want to bend to my whims. She wasn’t supposed to open up and give what I asked for. She wasn’t supposed to be so eager to take what I gave her. She certainly wasn’t supposed to see past my own curtain, wasn’t supposed to ask to see more.
I’m here for this, she’d said.

About the Author With millions of books sold worldwide, Laurelin Paige is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling Author. She is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however.

The Sinclair Heir by Eliot Scott

The Feud Series is complete and waiting for you! Grab The Wallace Girl AND The Sinclair Heir today! Both books are in Kindle Unlimited!

OUR REVIEW:

The Sinclair Heir picks up right where The Wallace Girl ends (so go read that one first if you haven't read it!) and holds nothing back. There are more flashbacks to Jojo and Alex's history--and the drama and cruelty is exactly as bad as you'd anticipate when it comes to the Sinclair family; but, there are some sweet memories too. It's all of these memories that set us up for what's to come and it's epic. There are some sweet and tender moments and some WTF moments that will have you flipping pages to see which of your predictions are right and which ones are way off.

You guys are going to enjoy this duet. It's such a throwback to those epic, soap opera-y, family dramas with a sexy romance as the cherry on top.

The Feud Series: The Wallace Girl & The Sinclair Heir
A steamy adult romance saga
By Eliot Scott
(Eliot Scott is the writing duo of bestselling authors Anne Eliot and Ginger Scott)

* The Feud Series is an adult/coming-of-age, enemies-to-lovers romance and contains mature themes not suitable for readers under 18*

Blurb:
Everyone knows when a Sinclair boy loves a Wallace girl people die.

The first time JoJo Wallace smiled, she had my heart. When we kissed, she owned my soul.
And when she gave me her everything, I took it…consuming her when I had no right.

At first, we were just kids falling in love. We didn’t know about the generations-old feud between the Wallaces and the Sinclairs. I also couldn’t imagine Jojo’s destruction had been planned by my father when we were babies. To Father, the feud came first. I was simply bred to participate. My love for Jojo became his weapon, and to keep Jojo alive, I became the perfect son.

I never thought Jojo would come back after Father’s death. Never thought she’d smile at me or kiss me again—or that I’d let her. She’s the last woman I should ever touch. Only Jojo’s relentless. She’s no longer a child that can be frightened away. She’s made me dream again…made me feel. But before this goes too far, I need to get her away from this town and the rest of the Sinclairs who would see her dead.

Why? Because she’s a Wallace and I’m a Sinclair. She’s something I’d kill for, and I’ll hurt her again. It’s what I do. But Jojo Wallace, she’s impossible for me to resist.

REVIEW: Before You by Marni Mann

Before You - BT banner.jpg
Before You by Marni Mann
Release Date: October 22, 2019
Before You AMAZON.jpg

OUR REVIEW:

Having read and enjoyed one other novel written by Marni Mann, I knew when we had an opening and an opportunity to read something else, I'd take it.

Before You had an interesting organization. It started with a mysterious prologue and then it followed a couple's storyline from the past and a couple's storyline in the present. Obviously these storylines would have to intersect at some point, and I had some guesses early on (that were somewhat correct, kudos to me), but it wasn't until the end that the intersection was clear. Up until that last 20%, I was curious and continually modifying what I thought the big reveal would be, soaking up details as I quickly read from chapter to chapter to try to figure things out: how were Honey and Billie and Jared were all connected and how would all of this end?

Of the two storylines, Billie and Jared's was the focal point. Their crazy beginning (gah-- there was one scene that was heartpoundingly too real) and aftermath were not what I was expecting and I liked how from the start this novel was trying to keep me on my toes. They had a connection that was forged by a harrowing event and as time passed became one of shared interests and passion. There's was a love that seemed to be perfect, even though we kept being warned that it wasn't supposed to be happening. But the heart wants what the heart wants and my heart wanted them to be together, dang it.

As I mentioned earlier, I had a few ideas and some were correct and some were so embarrassingly wrong, but it was that anticipation and desire to know what was going on that made this such a fun and unique read. I grabbed every spare second I had to try to read and when I got to the last 10%, I honestly felt it could go in one of two ways and I would've been okay with either, because either would've made sense--though I'm sure some readers would've not liked one of the scenarios. As this is a novel in the romance genre, it ended with the HEA and it worked but if I'm going to be honest, I wish there had been more chapters delving into that a little more. I finished the novel a little worried about how things would work...could they work...and that,my friends, is the sign of a good story. That I was still concerned and thinking about them after I finished means Marni Mann had me fully engaged and all in with her characters. Looks like there's a nice long backlist to keep me entertained until she comes out with something new.
Before You, a contemporary romance and a devastating examination of the people we meet, the life we create, and the things we lose from USA Today best-selling author Marni Mann.
It was supposed to be a typical work trip. New York to San Francisco, window seat, exit row. Maybe a mimosa.
Then, seat 14B sat down. When our eyes met, the flight became anything but routine.
I could pinpoint the moments in my life where everything changed forever.
Meeting Jared on that flight was first.
Falling in love with him was second.
Discovering the secrets he kept was third.
Putting my broken self back together and forgetting what I learned would be difficult. Forgiving Jared would be impossible.
He said, before me, nothing mattered. But after him, nothing would ever be the same.

Excerpt:
“Are you willing and able to help in the event of an emergency situation?” the flight attendant asked as she stood beside our row. She had appeared directly after the announcement that informed us that all of the passengers were now on board the plane to San Francisco and the pilots were doing their final preparations before Flight 88 pulled away from the gate. “Yes,” I answered, and I should have gone back to the article on the housing market in lower Manhattan that I’d started when I was waiting to board. Instead, my eyes were on her. The girl in seat 14A. She had dark hair that went well past her shoulders, a patch of freckles under each of her eyes, and lips that were pouty and full. She wasn’t beautiful. She was exquisite. And she had no idea at all. In the forty-seven years I’d been alive, I’d learned something about women. There were those you couldn’t help but look at and those you just shouldn’t look at. She was both. That was rare. “Yes,” she replied to the flight attendant, and then she looked at me. Before all of the interruptions, she had asked why I was going to California. I finally answered, “Some work, some pleasure. And yourself?” “Same.” Her eyelids narrowed. “Are you from Manhattan? I don’t detect an accent.” I felt the paper in my hands and knew there was no way I could go back to it. Not yet at least, not with her fiery green gaze on me. “When you’ve lived in New York for as long as I have, you tell people you’re from there. It’s easier.” She laughed, and it caused me to keep staring at her. “I’ve been here a while, too, and I agree. Once New York becomes home, you seem to forget everywhere else you’ve lived.” She tucked some hair behind her ear. “Why is that?” When I’d asked my assistant to book this flight, I hadn’t considered flying commercial would put me in a position for conversation, like the one she’d just started. I hadn’t thought much about the actual flight at all besides knowing I had to be on it. But now that I was here, I had no idea what the fuck I was thinking. I really shouldn’t be going to San Francisco at all. I looked away from her to glance up ahead. The main door was closed, telling me it was too late to get off the plane. The only thing I could do at this point was get some air. I excused myself, halfway to my feet, knowing we were minutes from leaving the gate and supposed to be in our seats, and I went down the aisle. “I’ll be quick,” I said to one of the flight attendants as she approached me, and I continued to the lavatory. When I got inside, I locked the door behind me, guessing I had about thirty seconds before I heard a knock. If I were in any other restroom, I would have washed my face, but I wasn’t going to do that with the water from a plane. What I needed from this tight, crammed space was to catch my breath. Because all of it had been sucked out of me, and there wasn’t any air to be found in row fourteen.

Moonlighter by Sarina Bowen

Moonlighter-sarina-bowen.png

OUR REVIEW:

This novel was exactly the type of fun I was looking for this weekend. Being new to the various universes of Sarina Bowen and her hockey players, I wasn't sure if I'd feel lost without any of the context but I'm happy to report to other who may also be new to her, that I followed along without ever needing the cliff's notes version of who was whom or how they were related to someone else. The backstories were seamlessly woven into the narrative and never superfluous.

As far as the story of Alex and Eric go, I loved how their story was sweet, sexy, and playful. Both of them had interesting storylines separate of each other that complimented what was going on and eventually merged into a story less of who they were separately and becoming one of who they were together. I thought they were amusing and interesting characters and I'm 100% intrigued about the larger series and where the characters of The Company will take me next. Reading about a world that seems so far removed from me and yet has implications for us all (big tech, privacy, hacking) had me hooked and I'm very much looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Not being familiar with Bowen's other books, I wonder if this is a bridge book and we'll see fewer hockey players and more bad ass security people? Either way, I'm here for it!

BUY IT: https://amzn.to/2Jblnfn

SYNOPSIS:
I’m at the height of my athletic career. Yet my arrogant brother is always trying to recruit me into the family business: a global security company so secretive that I don’t even know its name.
Pass, thanks. I don’t need a summer job.
But the jerk ambushes me with a damsel in distress. That damsel is Alex, the competitive, sassy girl I knew when we were kids. Now she’s a drop-dead gorgeous woman in deep trouble.
So guess who’s on a flight to Hawaii?
It’s going to be a long week in paradise. My job is keeping Alex safe, while her job is torturing me with her tiny bikinis. Or maybe we’re torturing each other. It’s all snark and flirting until the threat against Alex gets serious. And this jock must become her major league protector.

Moonlighter is a stand-alone novel. No cliffhangers, no prior experience necessary. Expect: a growly hero, a lady boss with no time for his attitude, and a war of wills and hormones. Bonus: a hunk wearing a baby in a sling.

About CD Reiss
CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets. Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels. She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood. If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine. REVIEW: Twice in a Blue Moon by Christina Lauren

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Unhoneymooners and the “delectable, moving” (Entertainment Weekly) My Favorite Half-Night Stand comes a modern love story about what happens when your first love reenters your life when you least expect it…

Sam Brandis was Tate Jones’s first: Her first love. Her first everything. Including her first heartbreak.

During a whirlwind two-week vacation abroad, Sam and Tate fell for each other in only the way that first loves do: sharing all of their hopes, dreams, and deepest secrets along the way. Sam was the first, and only, person that Tate—the long-lost daughter of one of the world’s biggest film stars—ever revealed her identity to. So when it became clear her trust was misplaced, her world shattered for good.

Fourteen years later, Tate, now an up-and-coming actress, only thinks about her first love every once in a blue moon. When she steps onto the set of her first big break, he’s the last person she expects to see. Yet here Sam is, the same charming, confident man she knew, but even more alluring than she remembered. Forced to confront the man who betrayed her, Tate must ask herself if it’s possible to do the wrong thing for the right reason… and whether “once in a lifetime” can come around twice.

With Christina Lauren’s signature “beautifully written and remarkably compelling” (Sarah J. Maas, New York Times bestselling author) prose and perfect for fans of Emily Giffin and Jennifer Weiner, Twice in a Blue Moon is an unforgettable and moving novel of young love and second chances.

OUR REVIEW:

Shel: I'm convinced that the writing duo of Christina Lauren can do it all. They can write the best smut, the funniest romcoms, and heartfelt contemporary romance--which is what I would consider Twice in a Blue Moon. Court: Absolutely true. I have come to find too that they write well plotted stories that give us something different every time. You can see their dedication to their characters and I for one appreciate the heck out of that.

Shel: As noted in the synopsis Sam and Tate meet on a vacation overseas, fall in love, suffer through a betrayal, and reunite 14 years later. About a third of this novel is dedicated to really getting you in the headspace of Tate when she first meets Sam, which is really helpful. You get to know her and her hesitancy about revealing the backstory of her life and then you get to really understand why in the world she would trust a virtual stranger with her secrets. (I mean wtf, right?! but then you totally get it because SAM. Sam the man). And then you really understand why the betrayal of trust cuts so deep. Court: Their journey is very unique and it just about squeezed my heart until it popped, but I really appreciated the lead up and backstory. I fell in love with them while they fell in love. It was a delight for us to read.

Shel: Fast forward 14 years and many successes later and Sam and Tate find themselves in the same location again. And it's nuts. The hurt. The shock. The curiosity. The hurt!!! Poor Tate tried so hard to harden her heart against Sam but the universe said nope...and thank god it did because Sam and Tate really needed to be together. Her resistance was futile, I mean she's only human, but I loved her resistance (totally justified) and yet I appreciated her decision to hear him out. Upon hearing him out, things change, I swoon, and more nefarious things happen...and then we get the HEA and then I, of course, kept hitting the swipe to read more and it was over and I was totally ready for at least 2 more chapters of HEA and fun-ness with Charlie and Nick and Marco (btw, the secondary characters were A+/100). Court: For real. I really was in shock, and then I as much as I tried to savor the pages I just had to keep going faster and faster to find out what was going to happen next! I really enjoyed the characters too, and I always enjoy the world this is set in but as usual I wanted to smack a few people around a bit to get my way...I mean, low key some people just suck don't they? Anyways...enough of the violence, but these are the parts that Christina Lauren absolutely slayed us and we love them for it.

Shel: So here I am now, totally happy with how the story of Sam and Tate unfolded and somehow still wanting more, go figure. Twice in a Blue Moon is a great addition to your Christina Lauren library--go grab it! Court: Agreed. We really, really enjoyed this book and hope you will TOO! Buy it below:

REVIEW: The Wallace Girl by Eliot Scott

The Wallace Girl by Eliot Scott is LIVE and on sale for #99cents! Grab yours today! Don't forget to pre-order The Sinclair Heir!

OUR REVIEW:

Falcon Crest or Dallas anyone? Am I dating myself with those references? Bueller? Bueller?! ANYONE?
Well if you're unfamiliar with those nighttime soaps then you missed out on some prime time intrigue with your grandma, at least that's how I remember it. But never fear, Eliot Scott will give you an idea of the scandal, drama, lust, and love that harkens back to those old soaps.

The Wallace Girl will draw you in with its tale of young love, tons of family drama and secrets, and some cruel and vicious villians. It's a story told from both Alex and Jojo in both present day and from their high school days and you just cannot help but wonder what's going to happen next, when more secrets will be spilled, and how they'll get out of the seemingly terrible limbo they're in right now.

I'm absolutely certain more secrets, lies, deceits, and hardships are coming before we get the HEA I really really want for these two. And luckily for us all, the wait won't be long at all! In the meantime, cue up some of those old nighttime soaps and cue the drama!

The Feud Series: The Wallace Girl & The Sinclair Heir
A steamy adult romance saga
By Eliot Scott
(Eliot Scott is the writing duo of bestselling authors Anne MacFarlane-Eliot and Ginger Scott)

* The Feud Series is an adult/coming-of-age, enemies-to-lovers romance and contains mature themes not suitable for readers under 18*

Blurb:
A hate that spans generations.
A brutal fight over who owns the land, who controls the water, and who can destroy the most lives.
A love doomed from its very beginning.

When Alex Sinclair first spots JoJo Wallace on the shores of his favorite lake, he doesn’t know about his family’s sordid past and how it weaves in and out of the Wallace line. He doesn’t know that she’s the girl who will own his heart completely. And he can’t imagine the torture he’ll be forced to put her through and the poison he’ll unleash.

She’s a spitfire soul with wild auburn hair—a girl that will haunt his dreams and rule his future. He’ll do unspeakable things, and the consequences will have the power to end a century-long feud.

To end her.

But JoJo was born just a little different than the other Wallace men and women. She was born to love big and see all that’s good—the good in Alex. And when she comes back to take what’s hers in the wake of Alex’s father’s death, she’s no longer the innocent, naïve girl the Sinclairs
have long underestimated. She’s a fighter.

And she isn’t leaving until she ends it all—for good.

REVIEW: Getting Played by Emma Chase

GP - BT banner.jpg

Getting Played by Emma Chase
Release Date: October 8, 2019

OUR REVIEW:

Shel: Let me tell you about reading Emma Chase novels.

Shel: You pick one up with enough time to read a chapter and it's never enough time, ever. So then you find yourself trying to negotiate with your schedule to see if there's any way possible that you can ignore everything in your life until you can get to the end. You're reading at every moment, sneak reading when you should be working, and putting off today what you can do tomorrow to get back to the book and to the HEA that you know is coming. Court: That is an 100% accurate description of how my day reading this book went!

Shel: This is my experience with every Emma Chase novel and since it had been a while since I've read her, I foolishly thought I'd be able to dole the reading out this time. HAHAHAH. Nope. Getting Played is addictive and impossible to put down. Lainey and Dean's story is heartwarming, sexy, fun, and funny. It includes many of my favorite things--unexpected surprises, moments that'll make you laugh until you shake the bed, characters you actually would like to be friends with, and an oh shit moment that sucks but isn't drawn out too long, and secondary characters we've met before and are so happy to see again. Court: YES! I really liked all of the twists and turns that was their journey in this story. I liked their characters and had fun in both of their heads. I too am ashamed to admit it has been way too long since I've devoured her books, and I have to say I regret it. I need to find out if there's been anything I've missed out on because Emma Chase books are such a joy to read every single time.

Shel: I love this couple and this cast of characters and I am hoping against hope that we get more stories from this crew. Court: I am too. Even if it is in the form of Grams and the Widower Anderson, I'll take it... ;) lol!

Getting Played, a magnificent new romance by New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase.
Dean Walker is all about keeping life simple. He’s effortlessly talented and intelligent—spending his summers playing drums in the local band and the rest of the year teaching high school in the same Jersey town where he grew up. He likes his love-life simple too, enjoying the commitment-free hook-ups his good looks and sexy charm have always made oh-so easy.
Then he meets Lainey Burrows. And his simple, easy life gets turned upside down.
***
One wild one-night stand was all it was ever supposed to be, so Lainey is shocked when she discovers that her sizzling summer fling is also her son’s new math teacher. But that’s nothing compared to the most unexpected twist of all—their hot hook-up left Lainey knocked-up, and now they’re about to become parents. Together.
What ensues is an addictive, insatiable, sweet and tender romance that won’t be simple, but it will be more than worth the fight.
A stand-alone, contemporary romance.

Excerpt:
Dean
I find Lainey in the living room—standing on a ladder, with those long, toned legs peeking out from itty bitty cotton black shorts and a power drill in her hand, while Bruce Springsteen sings “I’m Goin’ Down” from a speaker in the corner. And, dear God—the things I could do to her on that ladder. Wonderful, filthy things that instantly make my heart pound and my cock throb. She’s the perfect height for me to just walk over there and put my mouth between her legs. I picture it, see it in my mind—the way she’d grip my hair and pant my name, arch her back and writhe against my face . . . But then I catch sight of the small bump of her stomach, and reality smacks me in the head. I think about the baby—and how making Lainey lose her mind three feet off the ground wouldn’t be the safest option. My protective instinct overrides the desire to get freaky on the ladder. “Hey, Dean.” She sets the drill on the ledge and picks up a beeping light green rectangle, running it along the wall. “What are you doing up there?” I ask. I don’t have a decorative bone in my body, but the room looks good—with light gray walls and navy corduroy covered couches, reclaimed wood tables and a dozen different-sized candles filling the white-washed brick fireplace. It’s clean and simple but warm, the kind of place you’d look forward to coming back to every day. “I’m going to hang up those boards.” Lainey gestures to three square planks, with ornamental arrows burned black into the wood. “I just want to make sure this stud-finder works.” “If you’re looking for a stud,” I wink, “I’m standing right in front of you.” “Ha-ha. I’ll keep that in mind.” She turns back to the wall, reaching up over her head and stretching onto her tippy toes on the narrow step. I move under the ladder to catch her if she goes ass over end, and a stab of terror slices through me at the thought that Lainey would still be doing this if I wasn’t here. Alone. Without Jason even in the room in case something went terribly wrong. What the hell is up with that? “I read that you’re not supposed to reach above your head when you’re pregnant.” “That’s just an old wives’ tale.” I wrap my hands around her hips, holding her steady. “Maybe the old wives knew what they were talking about. Come on, come down.” Slowly, Lainey lowers her arms and turns in my hands. I lift her off the ladder by her hips, tilting my head back and holding her above me for a moment, before sliding her slowly down. And the feel of her softness rubbing against me, the friction—it’s fantastic. When her feet are on the ground, I dip my head and our faces are just millimeters apart. Close enough to count the sprinkle of cute, light freckles that dust the bridge of her nose. “That’s better,” I say softly, taking the stud-finder out of her hands. “I’ll do it.” “Okay.” Lainey’s tongue peeks out, wetting her bottom lip. “Thanks.” Like I said . . . fucking killing me.

NEW + REVIEW: Twisted Marriage by Alessandra Torre

Twisted Marriage
by Alessandra Torre
Cover Designer: Sommer Stein / Perfect Pear Creative Covers

OUR REVIEW:

Twisted Marriage continues where Filthy Vows left off. Elle and Easton are at it again...in all the ways we want them to be. They're smokin' hot in the bedroom...kitchen...couch....and they're hilarious in between. Their banter captures married life so well and I found myself smiling at so many things they said (I've felt or said many of those things in my own marriage). I also thought their worries and the way they'd snap at each other felt authentic and realistic--while I haven't been in their exact situation, I could see myself reacting in similar ways. Additionally, I liked that these characters didn't have all of their woes suddenly resolved and magically disappeared--their financial, friend, and work concerns were relatable for so many of us.

And certainly not to be overlooked, Brad and Julia DeLuca make an appearance and it was perfect. I suddenly found myself wanting to reread their books and relive their crazy romance; gosh I've missed them so much and I didn't even realize how much until I found them a part of my book world again.

Truly, I can understand why Alessandra Torre won't write a kazillion books in the Elle/Easton universe because she's always challenging herself to write something different and I LOVE that about her. But daaaang what I wouldn't give to revisit this cast of characters every once in while--it was a delicious escape from the usual and I could not put it down. I absolutely LOVE this couple; they feel authentic and like something I really haven't seen before. As a matter of fact, this two book series feels really fresh and young and fun and it's exactly why I love Alessandra Torre and what she writes. I never feel like I'm reading the same book with a new title--it always feels like a new adventure.

Synopsis

We thought we could branch outside of the norm. Explore my sexual fantasies. Dip our toes in a kinky pond just to see how it felt.
But you can't have sex with your husband's best friend in front of him without consequences. Ripples in the pond. A subtle shifting of events and feelings and triggers that will eventually affect every core molecule of your marriage. Your friendships. Your life. Once I knelt down between the two of them, everything changed. And now, I'm faced with wading in deeper or drying off my pink manicured toes and trying to pretend it never happened. They say that three is a crowd, but what about four? What about more? This is the truth of what I started when I confessed my desires and he gave them to me. *Twisted Marriage is the sequel to Filthy Vows.
