REVIEW: The Billionaire by Marni Mann

The Billionaire by Marni Mann is now live!

OUR REVIEW:

As noted in my reading of The Lawyer (the first book in this series), the books in this series are hot hot hot erotica and that's established quickly between Jenner and Jo within the first pages. These two have an instant chemistry that easily evolves into a genuine comradery and enjoyment of each other's company. But these Jenner boys have some serious issues with denying their feelings and so there's a lot of obvious feelings between Jo and Jenner and an equal amount of denial for Jenner.  Jenner should've realized that like this brother, he might as well just capitulate and let himself enjoy things with Jo but nahhhh, he has to pretend that this thing between them is a casual fling. Oh how the mighty fall, though. LOLOLOLOL. And thank goodness for Jo. She has patience and understanding and only hopes that he will too, when the thing she's not said, finally is said. They do get their happily ever after and the wait for that doesn't take too long; making the ending just as sweet as spicy as you'd expect with these two.

I've always been a good girl.

But the second I walk into the hotel bar, I see temptation.

The man sitting there is delicious. Older. Experienced. Once our eyes meet, I know I'm not walking away unscathed. I've heard about men like Jenner Dalton--richer than God and hotter than sin. He's got heartbreak written all over him.

But it only takes fifteen minutes before we're headed up to his room.

I've never done anything like this before, but something tells me he's worth it. Every swipe of his tongue feels electric, every kiss sets me on fire, and his experience has me begging for more.

And more.

And more.

In one week, I'll return to college in Miami.

He'll go back to being LA's most eligible billionaire.

The miles and years between us are just too many for this to mean anything.

So, between now and then, I plan to spend every moment being anything but good ...

REVIEW: The Lawyer by Marni Mann

OUR REVIEW:

Marni Mann's latest, The Lawyer, is steamy with a capital S. If you are looking for an erotic romance that wastes no time getting right to the sexy times, this should do it for you. This story follows the romance of Kendall and Dominick; one that starts with an instant attraction and chemistry and ends with the happily ever after we all seek.

Kendall, our heroine, is a blend of sweet, smart, and sexy. She's got this girl next door vibe --a big heart who wants to make the people in her life happy. But don't mistake her kindness for weakness; she's not a doormat--she doesn't let people walk all over or take advantage of her. She reads situations really well and handles disappointments with grace and cunning.

Dominick, her counterpart, could not be more opposite of Kendall in many ways. He's an alpha at all times, got sex on the brain 99% of the time, and to be honest, it took me a while to warm up to him. He was so insistent that nothing could ever come of him and Kendall that he wasted time denying his desire and longings more more. Once I got past his constant sex on the brain mentality when it initially came to Kendall, I saw a character that was warm and loving and I was honestly pleasantly surprised at how he handled so much in the back half of the book.

This novel has all the things you'd want when you think Hollywood--glitz and glam and a peek at what happens when someone skyrockets to fame. It also shows the unfortunate side of fame and how damaging it can be. I read it in what felt like seconds--it was a delicious escape that satisfies the craving of a quick, fun, erotic read. It'll be interesting to see how the other Dalton brothers fall.

The Lawyer by Marni Mann is now live!

A sexy, new stand-alone in the Dalton Brothers Series from USA Today best-selling author Marni Mann …

I’m not the type of girl who picks up a man on a rooftop bar.

Not the kind of girl who lets a man’s hands roam my body, discovering I have no panties on.

Never the girl who has hours’ worth of o’s from a smoking-hot one-night stand.

But Dominick makes it so easy to say yes.

His body, his moves, and his oh-so-wicked tongue have me saying it over and over again.

Yes, please.

Yes, more.

Yes, right there.

He worships every inch of my body, and I’m still sore the next morning when I meet him again.

This time, he’s Mr. Dalton, my sister’s cutthroat entertainment lawyer.

And he has a proposition for me.

He wants to make me famous.

Of course, that means sharing a screen with my wildly jealous sister.

It means giving up my career.

It means the whole world will suddenly know everything about me.

Which presents one catastrophic problem—Dominick doesn’t date famous people.

So, do I take a chance at becoming a Hollywood star, or do I pass up the opportunity to be with the man who gave me a taste of forever?

REVIEW: Before You by Marni Mann

Before You - BT banner.jpg
Before You by Marni Mann
Release Date: October 22, 2019
Before You AMAZON.jpg

OUR REVIEW:

Having read and enjoyed one other novel written by Marni Mann, I knew when we had an opening and an opportunity to read something else, I'd take it.

Before You had an interesting organization. It started with a mysterious prologue and then it followed a couple's storyline from the past and a couple's storyline in the present. Obviously these storylines would have to intersect at some point, and I had some guesses early on (that were somewhat correct, kudos to me), but it wasn't until the end that the intersection was clear. Up until that last 20%, I was curious and continually modifying what I thought the big reveal would be, soaking up details as I quickly read from chapter to chapter to try to figure things out: how were Honey and Billie and Jared were all connected and how would all of this end?

Of the two storylines, Billie and Jared's was the focal point. Their crazy beginning (gah-- there was one scene that was heartpoundingly too real) and aftermath were not what I was expecting and I liked how from the start this novel was trying to keep me on my toes. They had a connection that was forged by a harrowing event and as time passed became one of shared interests and passion. There's was a love that seemed to be perfect, even though we kept being warned that it wasn't supposed to be happening. But the heart wants what the heart wants and my heart wanted them to be together, dang it.

As I mentioned earlier, I had a few ideas and some were correct and some were so embarrassingly wrong, but it was that anticipation and desire to know what was going on that made this such a fun and unique read. I grabbed every spare second I had to try to read and when I got to the last 10%, I honestly felt it could go in one of two ways and I would've been okay with either, because either would've made sense--though I'm sure some readers would've not liked one of the scenarios. As this is a novel in the romance genre, it ended with the HEA and it worked but if I'm going to be honest, I wish there had been more chapters delving into that a little more. I finished the novel a little worried about how things would work...could they work...and that,my friends, is the sign of a good story. That I was still concerned and thinking about them after I finished means Marni Mann had me fully engaged and all in with her characters. Looks like there's a nice long backlist to keep me entertained until she comes out with something new.
Before You, a contemporary romance and a devastating examination of the people we meet, the life we create, and the things we lose from USA Today best-selling author Marni Mann.
It was supposed to be a typical work trip. New York to San Francisco, window seat, exit row. Maybe a mimosa.
Then, seat 14B sat down. When our eyes met, the flight became anything but routine.
I could pinpoint the moments in my life where everything changed forever.
Meeting Jared on that flight was first.
Falling in love with him was second.
Discovering the secrets he kept was third.
Putting my broken self back together and forgetting what I learned would be difficult. Forgiving Jared would be impossible.
He said, before me, nothing mattered. But after him, nothing would ever be the same.

Excerpt:
“Are you willing and able to help in the event of an emergency situation?” the flight attendant asked as she stood beside our row. She had appeared directly after the announcement that informed us that all of the passengers were now on board the plane to San Francisco and the pilots were doing their final preparations before Flight 88 pulled away from the gate. “Yes,” I answered, and I should have gone back to the article on the housing market in lower Manhattan that I’d started when I was waiting to board. Instead, my eyes were on her. The girl in seat 14A. She had dark hair that went well past her shoulders, a patch of freckles under each of her eyes, and lips that were pouty and full. She wasn’t beautiful. She was exquisite. And she had no idea at all. In the forty-seven years I’d been alive, I’d learned something about women. There were those you couldn’t help but look at and those you just shouldn’t look at. She was both. That was rare. “Yes,” she replied to the flight attendant, and then she looked at me. Before all of the interruptions, she had asked why I was going to California. I finally answered, “Some work, some pleasure. And yourself?” “Same.” Her eyelids narrowed. “Are you from Manhattan? I don’t detect an accent.” I felt the paper in my hands and knew there was no way I could go back to it. Not yet at least, not with her fiery green gaze on me. “When you’ve lived in New York for as long as I have, you tell people you’re from there. It’s easier.” She laughed, and it caused me to keep staring at her. “I’ve been here a while, too, and I agree. Once New York becomes home, you seem to forget everywhere else you’ve lived.” She tucked some hair behind her ear. “Why is that?” When I’d asked my assistant to book this flight, I hadn’t considered flying commercial would put me in a position for conversation, like the one she’d just started. I hadn’t thought much about the actual flight at all besides knowing I had to be on it. But now that I was here, I had no idea what the fuck I was thinking. I really shouldn’t be going to San Francisco at all. I looked away from her to glance up ahead. The main door was closed, telling me it was too late to get off the plane. The only thing I could do at this point was get some air. I excused myself, halfway to my feet, knowing we were minutes from leaving the gate and supposed to be in our seats, and I went down the aisle. “I’ll be quick,” I said to one of the flight attendants as she approached me, and I continued to the lavatory. When I got inside, I locked the door behind me, guessing I had about thirty seconds before I heard a knock. If I were in any other restroom, I would have washed my face, but I wasn’t going to do that with the water from a plane. What I needed from this tight, crammed space was to catch my breath. Because all of it had been sucked out of me, and there wasn’t any air to be found in row fourteen.

REVIEW: Contracted by Marni Mann

CONTRACTED_RB_

Contracted by Marni Mann
Publication Date: June 28th, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance

MMContractedBookCover6x9_MEDIUM (1).jpg

OUR REVIEW:

This was the first book I've read by Marni Mann and it has me so excited to read through her backlist. This novel, Contracted, was pure escapism in the best way. It featured two uber-successful people in the entertainment industry, living a life I will never experience, and having a ton of fun doing it. Max and Eve were fun to read--their banter and chemistry was hot af--and the angsty parts had me feeling all sorts of ways. I also really enjoyed the secondary characters; the friendships and honesty that came with them made everything click into place.

I read this in one day--I just couldn't tear myself away from these characters and I'm really excited to start reading the rest of the books in this series and other things Mann has published...which just goes to show you that you can be brand new to this series and still enjoy any of the books in it aaaaaaannnd, trying new authors can be a risk well worth taking.

Synopsis: Years ago, I was burned by a woman.
I forgave, but I haven’t forgotten, and it’s a road I’ll never go down again.
My career has become my life instead. I’m Max Graham, the biggest music agent in the business. Women love me, but I don’t do love anymore. I’ve found another way to meet my needs.
Eve Kennedy—stylist to the stars and total bombshell. By far, she’s the most daring woman I’ve ever had in my bed with a sexual appetite as ferocious as mine.
We might just have the hottest sex life in Miami and LA.
We don’t date anyone else—although, sometimes, we invite someone for a night. We travel the world, and I lavish her with gifts. But she knows my career comes first.
And the best part? For the past two years, she’s been happy with our arrangement.
Or so I thought.
I’ve survived heartbreak once before, but this one could be the end of me.

SALE BLITZ: PULLED BENEATH BY MARNI MANN

What happens when you uncover years of secrets and find out everything you thought to be true was a lie?

Drew Stevens finds her world turned upside down when her parents are brutally murdered. Soon after, she learns she inherited a property in Bar Harbor, Maine, from recently deceased grandparents that she believed had died when she was a baby.

Drew travels north to settle her grandparents’ estate, but finds more questions than answers as the truth starts unraveling. What she didn’t expect to find was Saint, whose reputation is as tumultuous as his past. But the very thing that brings them together is the same thing that keeps them emotionally caged.

With Saint's scars so deep and Drew's so fresh, can the pair heal from their painful wounds or will they be pulled beneath the darkness of their pasts?

Top 5 Things - Saint

1. Saint’s smile is subtle with a bit of astonishment, and his voice is as rough as the visual impression he creates. He’s tall and broad, with deep caramel irises and thick black stubble that covers his cheeks.
2. Cages are tattooed over his entire back. They serve as a constant reminder of that time in his life. It was a dark, damaging place that he hopes to never return to. If he does…he won’t survive.
3. Saint isn’t attracted to perfection. His last girlfriend had a scar that covered her entire cheek. He’s looking for someone who understands his level of pain, who has a certain touch of darkness, and who has been pulled beneath the waves.
4. He owns the most successful lobster pound and distribution center in the state of Maine, though one would never know his level of success because he doesn’t flaunt it. He doesn’t really spend much of his money, either. Since making the decision to change his life, he keeps to himself and doesn’t allow anyone in. He laughs at the rumors of him that float around town. The assumptions, the accusations, none of those matter to him.
5. Even though he spends all day working on a lobster boat, he still wants to spend more time on the water. So he lives on a boat that’s docked in the sea outside his grandparent’s house. And every night, regardless of the weather or the season, he goes for a swim.

I’m a New Englander at heart and now a Floridian, inspired by the sandy beaches and hot pink sunsets of Sarasota. As a writer of erotic romance, new adult and literary fiction, I tap a mainstream appeal and shake worldwide taboos, taking my readers on a dark, harrowing, and breathtaking journey. When I’m not nose deep in my laptop, I’m scouring for chocolate, traveling, reading, or walking my four-legged children.
