COVER REVEAL: Taste by Melanie Harlow

I’m terrified of falling for him.
But one taste might be all it takes.

TASTE, an all-new enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, surprise pregnancy small town romantic comedy from USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling author Melanie Harlow is coming March 7th, and we have the delicious cover!

The last person on earth I want to be stranded with is Gianni Lupo.

But thanks to the blizzard of the century, I’m trapped in a roadside motel room with that cocky bastard for two straight days.

With one small bed.

Some women might thank Mother Nature for delivering a polar vortex that maroons them with six feet of solid muscle, those deep blue eyes, that sexy grin--but not me. I’ve known Gianni Lupo all my life, and he’s never brought me anything but bad luck and trouble.

So when the tension between us explodes with enough fiery heat to melt my icy defenses, I should have known what the disastrous end result would be--

A big fat plus sign.

After the snow melts, I’m left with more than just memories of the night we spent keeping each other warm. And he might be a rising star on the culinary scene, but he’s got no idea how to handle this bun in the oven.

He says he wants to do the right thing, but I’m not about to spend the rest of my life feeling like someone settled for me.

But just when I think I’ve got Gianni Lupo all figured out, he gives me a taste of the man he could be, of the family we could become, of the way he could love me if I let him.

I’m terrified of falling for him.

But one taste might be all it takes.

REVIEW: Getting Real by Emma Chase

OUR REVIEW:

It's been a while since I've been in an Emma Chase world and it's so fun getting back into it. Getting Real has so many things to enjoy, starting with the characters: Connor and Violet. These two have to be two of the kindest characters I've come across in a while. They're genuinely good people that only want the best for those around them...and well, anyone. He's this calm, steady, down to earth ER doc and she's this vivacious, funny, kind ER nurse. A match made in heaven. In addition to having awesome characters, Emma Chase filled the novel with scenes that made me crack up laughing, tear up, and made my heart swell with all the love going on on the pages. I love a book that can give me such a range of emotions. It was also fun to revisit some of the previous characters and get a peek at what they're up to, as well as meeting new characters that have me hoping they'll be more to this series.

Want a sexy, romcom that will hit you with the feels? Getting Real is what you need to read next.

Getting Real by Emma Chase is now live!

A sexy, hilarious, emotional, new romance from New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase.

Connor Daniels never thought he’d be starting over at dating square one. His career as a successful doctor, and his three boys, are everything to him. It’s not exactly a setup conducive to a scorching love life—but he’s giving it a shot.

ER nurse Violet Robinson never intended for Connor to find out she’s had a crush on him forever. It was a dirty little secret only meant for her dirty dreams. Her heart trips every time he’s around—and so do her feet.

When Connor sees Violet coasting across the grocery store parking lot—and she falls on her face—he starts falling for the gorgeous, young nurse right back.

Dating can be tricky. And life can be beautiful and crazy and unpredictable. But when it gets real, you discover what matters most . . . and the one person you want loving you through it all.

REVIEW: On a Night Like This by Lindsey Kelk

OUR REVIEW:

On a Night Like This
is a wonderful weekend escape. It features Fran, a woman seeking a better PA job than the ones she's most recently had, her new job, and someone she meets on a wild night. The initial thing that drew me to the novel was that it was set in Britain. I'm a sucker for a good British romance. The synopsis also made it sound like there would be laughs and who doesn't need that right now?! After reading, I can vouch for the romance and the comedy--and the Cinderella-like aspects, as well.

I really enjoyed how down to earth Fran was; she's very self-aware, confident in her job, and truly funny. The things she manages to get herself into made me smile, unless of course you're talking about her boyfriend who made me slightly insane...or maybe it was Fran who made me slightly insane, for putting up with his foolishness. But, thankfully, her new temp job, Juliette, helped enlighten Fran to some things, which also helped ease the way to a night of swooniness with Evan.

On a Night Like This is a fun read from a new to me author and I think you'll enjoy the sweet, funny, romance...it's perfect for a night like this. :)

SYNOPSIS:

Within days of wishing she could change her life, Fran Cooper is leaving rainy England to become acting assistant to a famous singer, on a yacht in the Mediterranean. Their destination is a tiny Italian island that’s hosting the biggest celebrity gala of the season—the Crystal Ball.

And while not everything about her new role goes precisely to plan, when she— quite literally—bumps into tall, dark and handsome Evan, a man able to keep his cool in the face of chaos, the magic really begins.

Evan makes her a promise: no last names, no life stories, just one unforgettable night. Wearing a designer dress and drinking champagne, Fran is soon a million miles away from life back in the UK.

And that’s the problem: Evan belongs at the Crystal Ball and Fran is a gatecrasher. They may be soulmates, but their homes are an ocean apart, their lives a world apart. They’ll never meet again—unless, on a night like this, everything can change forever…

REVIEW: Prodigal Son by Jay Crownover

PRODIGAL SON (The Forever Marked Series Book 2) by Jay Crownover
Release Date: January 12th
Genre/Tropes: Single Dad Romance/Childhood Friends-to-Lovers/Destined Lovers
AVAILABLE NOW!!!

Our Review:

Let me just jump in with two feet and say that I really enjoyed Prodigal  Son. I know part of it was because these characters are the children of beloved characters but if that probably wouldn’t be enough to hold my attention for an entire novel. Really, it’s that these two characters just drew me in with their messed up early relationship and their evolution to their more grown up relationship.

I really appreciated the enduring and patient love that they had for each other, even when it felt like there were a ton of unresolved and hurt feelings. I liked how deep their connection went and how far they each went to support each other, even when it should’ve seemed unlikely. I loved that Jay Crownover made this a grown up love, in that their conflicts never felt trite—their issues felt real and the way she had them work on and through them just felt like evolved and take on love in a contemporary romance. Also, not to be overlooked was the way Jay Crownover took on mental health and wellness and was consistent in the overall acceptance, understanding, and honesty of how having loved ones grappling with staying well isn’t just a straight path from illness to wellness in one fell swoop.

Even with loose ends tied up and an HEA, I honestly could’ve read pages and pages more of these two
because of how much I liked them.

I am loving this series and can’t wait for the next book.

Blurb:
When she was a little girl, Remy Archer fell in love with Hyde Fuller at first sight. In fact, he was the only thing she could see for a very long time. For Remy, it never mattered to her that Hyde was always too serious and always seemed so sad. To her, he was the very best, and the center of her entire world. She never dreamed he would let her down when she needed him the most.
Now Remy is a semi-reasonable adult, one with a better understanding of why her intense feelings scared Hyde away when she was at her lowest point. She’s moved on, and if anyone asks she's perfectly happy with the chaotic and hectic life she's built. She’s also really proud that she's still around to experience all the best and worst that surviving something deeply traumatic has to offer. The last thing she needs or wants, is Hyde coming back and taking over her every thought and feeling the way he once did. Unfortunately, they picked the exact same time to come home to search for a little redemption.
When he was a little boy, the instant they met, Hyde Fuller wanted nothing more than to protect Remy Archer from everything, including herself. She gleefully took up every moment of his free time, and every ounce of his patience, as they grew alongside one another. He was so intent on keeping her safe, he didn't realize how deeply Remy had worked her way into his heart.
Now that Hyde’s facing the biggest challenge and biggest change of his entire life, he deeply regrets walking away from Remy. She was always the one person who always had his back, no matter what. The way Remy loved him used to terrify him, but now, it’s the way he loves her that scares him to death.
Hyde knows he needs Remy in his life, so he can finally figure out how to be the man she always believed him to be. History has a bad habit of repeating itself, and Remy has a knack for turning even the most simple of situations end over end. This time Hyde is determined to stay by her side no matter what, even though his love for Remy is going to change more than his life this time around.

REVIEW: The Girl in the Mist by Kristen Ashley

The Girl in the Mist, an all-new, thrilling standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author Kristen Ashley filled with off-the-charts chemistry, and edge of your seat suspense, is out now!

OUR REVIEW:

Kristen Ashley just surprised us all with a new release, The Girl in the Mist, and of course we downloaded it the second we could. This new series puts us in a new locale, with a new cast of characters, but of course, some of our past favorites make appearances too (I always love it when this happens; I hope that KA never stops mashing up the old with the new). The things we always enjoy about Kristen Ashley's novels are definitely present in The Girl in the Mist: strong characters, interesting family and friendship dynamics, and the warmth of a swoony romance. What made this novel a little different than some of her prior novels was that the major plot point was more about finding a killer than finding anything else--and while that whole sense of finding something (yourself, your confidence, your family, etc) is always a part of her novels, this particular novel had adults who were already established, so that sense of missing something wasn't the focus of our attention. Of course that doesn't mean that Delphine and Cade didn't find each other almost instantly, but their burgeoning relationship was a natural extension of what else was happening. I loved Delphine and Cade for each other. They way they handled every single thing--the easy stuff and the harder things--was so perfect. I also enjoyed that the main source of conflict wasn't about them and so it made their falling in love that much more fun to read.

As always, the secondary characters in a Kristen Ashley novel never feel like tokens and make all of the happenings and events that much more interesting and entertaining. And while this isn't a light romcom, there were definitely some instances of levity injected by the secondary characters--characters I have a feeling we'll see again. Additionally, the way that Kristen Ashley 'designs' the various scenes and settings has me longing to see what she sees and live in one of her sets.

The Girl in the Mist was a fantastic surprise release and I am so eager for the next book in this series. I enjoyed all of the characters so much I don't even have a preference as to who gets the next book, as long as someone does...and soon!

From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Ashley comes an all new thrilling romantic suspense guaranteed to have pulses rise, and readers begging for more.

Renowned author Delphine Larue needs a haven. A crazed fan has gone over the deep end, and she’s not safe. Her security team has suggested a house by a lake. Secluded. Private. Far away. In a beautiful area of the Northwest close to the sleepy town of Misted Pines. It’s perfect. So perfect, Delphine has just moved in, and she’s thinking she’ll stay there forever.

Until she sees the girl in the mist.

After that, everything changes.

Delphine quickly learns that Misted Pines isn’t so sleepy. A little girl has gone missing, and the town is in the grips of terror and tragedy. The local sheriff isn’t up for the job. The citizens are up in arms. And as the case unfolds, the seedy underbelly of a quiet community is exposed, layer by layer.

But most importantly, girls are dying.

There seems to be only one man they trust to find out what’s happening.

The mysterious Cade Bohannan.

Excerpt

I called Hawk Delgado.

It was no surprise this situation in Misted Pines was known to him. He was tasked with keeping me safe, and although this had nothing to do with me, it had to do with Misted Pines, and that was where I was. It was also not a surprise that he currently did not have any resources to devote to assisting with it.

However, he gave me two names.

Nightingale Investigations, an outfit located where Delgado was, in Denver, Colorado.

And Tanner Layne, a private investigator who worked out of a shop in Brownsburg, Indiana, which was, to my astonishment, where Joe Callahan was based.

Neither were close.

But Nightingale was closer.

Though for reasons I didn’t understand (they probably had to do with Callahan), I called Layne first, left a message as it was the weekend and waited.

It was not long before he returned my call.

He had a full caseload, but said he’d look into it and get back to me.

I then reached out to Denver, leaving another message.

Not much time passed before a woman named Shirleen Jackson got in touch, saying she’d assessed it and presented it to her boss, the man behind the name, Lee Nightingale. She would follow up with me as soon as he’d made his decision.

Within hours, I had two replies.

Layne: “We’re ready to roll when we receive word from the investigator on site that he welcomes assistance. We have a message to him. But if he doesn’t give us the greenlight, I’m afraid at this time we can’t get involved. I hope you understand. I would feel the same if someone I didn’t know pushed into one of my investigations, especially at this early juncture. Trust me when I say that it’s never helpful.”

I didn’t know who “we” was, I also didn’t ask, but I suspected he’d consulted with Callahan.

I also didn’t think this was “early.” At that point, she’d been missing nearly a week.

Which begged the question, what parents had a slumber party for their eight-year-old on a Monday evening?

I didn’t ask Layne that either.

Jackson: “We understand your concern, but Lee looked into things and the investigator contracted to assist the local authorities is second to none. In this kind of situation, although it seems contradictory, more hands on deck can make a mess.”

That was two nos of the same ilk.

I decided to focus on the “second to none” comment, knowing they were referring to the fact it was clear the locals had called Cade Bohannan in.

REVIEW: The Good Lie by A.R. Torre

OUR REVIEW:

I love that Alessandra Torre can write all the things. You want a romcom? She's got it. Some smut? Yep. A twisty romance? Uh huh. Suspense? Yessss. The Good Lie is a suspenseful read that follows a psychiatrist and a lawyer whose one night together expands into months of a working relationship as they try to uncover who is behind a series of horrific murders. It's one of those novels that you start and the next thing you know hours have passed without you moving. At first, I think I was curious about Gwen, then it was Gwen + Robert, Gwen + her clients + Robert + her profile, and thennnnn I just had to know the who and the how and the why and so I decided sleep could wait because I wasn't going to stop reading until I got to the very last page.

I love when a novel surprises me because it seems like it's really rare these days that that happens, and The Good Lie definitely surprised me, in the best possible way.

SYNOPSIS: Six teens murdered. A suspect behind bars. A desperate father. In a case this shadowy, the truth is easy to hide.

Psychiatrist Dr. Gwen Moore is an expert on killers. She’s spent a decade treating California’s most depraved predators and unlocking their motives―predators much like the notorious Bloody Heart serial killer, whose latest teenage victim escaped and then identified local high school teacher Randall Thompson as his captor. The case against Thompson as the Bloody Heart Killer is damning―and closed, as far as Gwen and the media are concerned. If not for one new development…

Defense attorney Robert Kavin is a still-traumatized father whose own son fell prey to the BH Killer. Convinced of Thompson’s innocence, he steps in to represent him. Now Robert wants Gwen to interview the accused, create a psych profile of the killer and his victims, and help clear his client’s name.

As Gwen and Robert grow closer and she dives deeper into the investigation, grave questions arise. So does Gwen’s suspicion that Robert is hiding something―and that he might not be the only one with a secret.
