WAITING ON WEDNESDAY #4

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't wait to read" selections are:

Sisterland by Curtis Sittenfeld
Expected Release Date: June 25th, 2013

From an early age, Kate and her identical twin sister, Violet, knew that they were unlike everyone else. Kate and Vi were born with peculiar “senses”—innate psychic abilities concerning future events and other people’s secrets. Though Vi embraced her visions, Kate did her best to hide them.

Now, years later, their different paths have led them both back to their hometown of St. Louis. Vi has pursued an eccentric career as a psychic medium, while Kate, a devoted wife and mother, has settled down in the suburbs to raise her two young children. But when a minor earthquake hits in the middle of the night, the normal life Kate has always wished for begins to shift. After Vi goes on television to share a premonition that a devastating earthquake will soon hit the St. Louis area, Kate is mortified. More troubling, however, is her fear that Vi may be right. As the date of the predicted earthquake quickly approaches, Kate is forced to reconcile her fraught relationship with her sister, and truths about herself she’s long tried to deny.

Why I Picked It:

This book popped up on a Summer Reading book list and the title and cover were the first two things that piqued my interest. What can I say? I'm a visual person.  As I read the blurb, though, I became even more interested. Psychic sisters, divergent paths, earthquakes, and possible reconciliation? Hmmm. I will definitely have to put this on my TBR list.

Coming SUMMER 2013

A second chance at first love.

There are a few things worth risking everything for - even your life. For Camden McQueen, this is one of them.

Shooting Scars is the second book in The Artists Trilogy and is told from the dual POV of Camden and Ellie.

(So there's not much of a blurb yet, but if you check out Sins & Needles (The Artists Trilogy #1) you can get  a pretty good idea where book 2 is headed!)

Why I Picked It:

I picked this book for several reasons. First, I have a girl crush on Karina Halle. I absolutely adore her writing and love her eff you attitude. Trust me, you could love her too, and with 6 Experiment in Terror Books + 4 Novellas + The Devil's Metal #1 + Sins & Needles already out there is PLENTY to get you through until her next book is released.

Anyways, Camden & Ellie were intriguing in book 1 (yes, I overuse that word) and crazy and crazy about each other, but crazy and out to screw each other over all at the same time. I am hoping that book 2 picks up exactly where book 1 left off, and it will be a thrill ride like all Karina Halle novels should be known for.
