WAITING ON WEDNESDAY # 2

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Shelley's Pick:

Remake by A.J. Sand
Expected Publication Date: May 2013
Erica's charmed life changed in an instant with a devastating act of betrayal.

And so with her secret, she ran. From everything and everyone, including the person she loved most in the world.

Now she's back to take control of the life she left behind, even if she's doing so with a lot of uncertainty. And even as that event from the past still hangs over her, unresolved.

But Erica knows a thing or two about survival.

She just wished she knew what to do about Bryson Ellis, the guy who has her heart but doesn't know her secret, and Matt Corso, the one who knows her secret and may want her heart.

Yet just when her life slowly comes together in other ways, she suddenly finds her strength tested again.

But this time...

She's ready.

And she won't run.

This follow-up to "Documentary" picks up with a new point of view in a story about what it means to love, forgive and never back down.

But it's also one woman's chance to remake herself.

***This is NA fiction. Due to the sexual content, language and violence, this work is not recommended for readers under 17.***

Why I Picked It:

We first met Erica in Documentary and I thought her storyline was so interesting and, until the end, suspicious and mysterious. She seemed so genuinely caring and the emotions she exhibited so raw and truthful, that I am looking forward to reading her story. And, honestly, I am secretly hoping to hear a little bit more about how the lives of the other characters from Documentary are going. I loved Documentary and it left us teetering on the cliff (THANKS, A J!) with a mysterious text notification and I'm so very curious to know what THAT is all about.

Courtney's Pick:
Down London Road by Samantha Young
Expected publication 5/7/13

Johanna Walker is used to taking charge. But she’s about to meet someone who will make her lose control....

It has always been up to Johanna to care for her family, particularly her younger brother, Cole. With an absent father and a useless mother, she’s been making decisions based on what’s best for Cole for as long as she can remember. She even determines what men to date by how much they can provide for her brother and her, not on whatever sparks may—or may not—fly.

But with Cameron MacCabe, the attraction is undeniable. The sexy new bartender at work gives her butterflies every time she looks at him. And for once, Jo is tempted to put her needs first. Cam is just as obsessed with getting to know Jo, but her walls are too solid to let him get close enough to even try.

Then Cam moves into the flat below Jo’s, and their blistering connection becomes impossible to ignore. Especially since Cam is determined to uncover all of Jo’s secrets, even if it means taking apart her defenses piece by piece.

Why I Picked It:

Because I loved On Dublin Street is probably not all I should say on this subject is it? Hhmmm...let's see, first of all the cover is fantastic. I sure do love me a great cover. Secondly, the blurb is great too. There's almost nothing (I'm sure I'll find something that tops this, so I will say almost) that I hate more than a less than mediocre blurb. I don't want spoilers, but I do love being hooked! It has to hook me so I can text you "OMG WE HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK AS SOON AS IT COMES OUT," screamy caps and all! This one definitely did. Now, I will admit it has been a while since I read On Dublin Street, so I am vague on who Cam is, but a friend tells me he was in the other book. I hope I got that right, but I am impatiently waiting for it all the same. Jo seems like she finds herself a few sugar daddies to take care of her brother, so that definitely should be interesting!
