REVIEW: The Siren by Tiffany Reisz

Notorious Nora Sutherlin is famous for her delicious works of erotica, each one more popular with readers than the last. But her latest manuscript is different—more serious, more personal—and she's sure it'll be her breakout book... if it ever sees the light of day.

Zachary Easton holds Nora's fate in his well-manicured hands. The demanding British editor agrees to handle the book on one condition: he wants complete control. Nora must rewrite the entire novel to his exacting standards—in six weeks—or it's no deal.

Nora's grueling writing sessions with Zach are draining... and shockingly arousing. And a dangerous former lover has her wondering which is more torturous—staying away from him... or returning to his bed?

Nora thought she knew everything about being pushed to your limits. But in a world where passion is pain, nothing is ever that simple.

Court: We've been fans of Tiffany Reisz for a long time, me in thanks to Shelley, even though I had not read much of her work. The first experience was with The Last Good Knight novella serial, and while I loved it, I knew that there was so much more to experience with these characters starting with this book. And oh. my. goodness. I think anyone who will read this cannot deny that you get so much more than I could have imagined by her storytelling. Shel: I'm so glad Court feels the same love for Tiffany Reisz that I do..not sure if we could be friends if she didn't. I remember watching Brittany Gibbons' hangouts featuring Tiffiany (and others) and chatting with Court, knowing that once Court read her books, she'd LOVE her. (I was right and yay for that!).

Court: Nora is trying to become the next big thing in writing, but also by doing it with a honing of her craft that is unparalleled. She does her best to recruit Zach Easton as her editor, because he doesn't deal with trivial things. It is a long journey to getting him to work with her, and remain working with her, but the journey is ridiculously fun, heartbreaking, and addicting. Between journey's with Soren (sorry y'all, I can't function my keyboard enough to have the proper character here...), Kingsley (oh, how I love this Frenchman), Wesley (A virgin intern living with a dominatrix erotica writer...plot thickens, big time) and Zach Easton (A man who has a past of his own)...well, you see there is plenty of story to sink your teeth into. Shel: There is a ton of story here and like an iceberg, the further into this series we get, the more we'll find beneath the surface. I, for one, cannot wait to dig in. These characters are so rich and memorable. The dialogue and pacing are fantastic. The story? So interesting.

Court: I want to talk most about, and have been struggling to gain the motivation to put my words in a way that they make sense...is Tiffany is the very author that I would love to be. I would love to create a story so beautiful, haunting, heartbreaking, tragic, yet as hopeful as this one...and I almost cannot put into existence my love for this story. #1) A story within a story. 2) Love for oneself, and others is hard to come by. 3) Letting go of someone for your own good is the hardest of all. Nora has all of these trials to deal with, and with a lesser writer it would not come off with such a impact for me I don't think. I loved it, and hope that everyone will start this series not thinking...oh it's just smut...No. It is so much more. SO. MUCH. MORE.

Shel: Tiffany Reisz is not only a fantastic writer, she's unfailingly honest and kind and witty and generous. Following her on twitter and keeping up with who and what she loves and for being exactly who she is? She's inspiring.

Please read this series if you haven't. I think you will love it.

  1. I have heard so many amazing things about Tiffany Reisz's writing and books!! I think she may need to be bumped on my TBR - perhaps I'll make all her books my summer reads if they're as addicting as everyone says!!
