Life changes in the span of a heartbeat—one tiny heartbeat.

Blake and Layla have lived through disappointment and regret, only finally finding relief through the powerful love they have for each other. A love they intend to fight to keep.

They’ve had to forgive each other, but can they truly move forward without facing the pain of the past?

Layla’s been avoiding the phone calls. Nine months pregnant and exhausted, she doesn’t want the complication. But she can’t run from the truth. Whoever’s calling was there eighteen years ago. Unlike her, he remembers the night that changed the course of her life, and he’s ready to confess.

Blake’s preoccupied with an email, a few simple sentences sent through cyberspace that have the capability to rob him of his sanity, his freedom, and the people he loves most in the world. When he’s called home for a mysterious reason, leaving Layla isn’t ideal, but hope for reconciliation with his father combined with his brother’s secrecy ignites a curiosity he refuses to ignore.

Putting the pain behind them is no longer an option.

To get the answers they need, they must face the past and open up old wounds that threaten to bleed them dry.

Court: JB Salsbury is one of our favorites, so of course we had to read this one as soon as absolutely possible. Well...it did not disappoint...because Blake and Layla are still are hot, and well, him especially, over protective of each other as ever. Shel: I forgot how much I love these two (how could I forget that I loved their story so much?!!).

Court: Layla is nearly 9 months pregnant now, and whoa. Just whoa. I love this side of Blake. They have been through a lot of shit up to this point, but the three of them (including Layla's daughter Axelle) are trying to figure out their family dynamic in the aftermath of the previous dramas. Unfortunately, someone seems determined to bring up the past...and make them confront things that might be better left in the past...Shel: Blake cracked me up when he'd get all weird about the "gross" things about pregnancy and I swooned over his need to protect her and Axelle. And the end? Well, his epiphany about parenting/fatherhood was so genuine and heartfelt. Layla's perspective was important here, too, but honestly this felt like Blake's book (not to take away from her but I just felt him more here).

Court: Both Layla and Blake's pasts are threatening their present...and whoa. Just whoa. Again. The things that are uncovered. And Braeden and Killer are shaping things up nicely for their own books.... Bring on whatever you have next for us JB! Because I love the writing, I love the story, and the characters, and just WHOA. Love this series. Check it. Shel: I'm so glad I started this series and I'm very much looking forward to the next ones.

Until then,
Happy Reading.
