REVIEW: SURRENDER SERIES BY PRISCILLA WEST

“What gives you a thrill Kristen?”

The minute I saw Vincent Sorenson, I knew he was trouble. Billionaire. Bad boy. And dangerously sexy. He was everything I craved, and nothing I needed.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t just avoid him. The higher ups at my company decided they needed his business, and I was on the team to bring him in. Vincent Sorenson didn’t seem as interested in business as he was in me, but I knew that was a door better left unopened. If I got involved with him, it would only unearth the pain I spent years trying to bury.

I thought I had it under control, but I seriously underestimated Vincent’s seductive charm and silver-tongue. I would soon find out how delicious it would feel to let myself fall into this forbidden surrender.

This is book 1 of 3..and it's my understanding that this is the longest of the 3...which probably makes a lot of sense because in this book our main charachers are established. We have Kristen working in a firm trying to win over a new client (Vincent's business). After a bungled presentation and a second, accidental meeting, Vincent decides to hire Kristen's firm...with a condition. NOPE, not that condition...get your mind out of the gutter. But the condition he makes as part of the deal seems to have the potential to blow up in Kristen's face if she isn't careful..so she is. She tries to keep her professionalism around Vincent even as she is inexorably drawn to him. As the novel continues, we get to know a teeny tiny bit more about Kristen and Vincent and because there's still so much more to know, I'll be diving back into this series....NOW. I kind of fell in love with them and the way she *literally* fell into him. It was nice that it felt like this was going to be THE story that the girl who is looking to make a name for herself professionally is going to get to do it all by her bad self. And there is a lot of that here. Kristen doesn't seem to have had a lot of luck in love thus far, so she is cautious...and treading carefully. As she should! Is it all too good to be true?

I'll be interested in seeing if we get more than a bazillionaire bad boy and an innocent young girl. If this pans out...there's some mystery there now...let's see what happens in book 2 and 3. Right!

“What gives you a thrill Kristen?”

I knew that giving in to Vincent Sorenson was a risk, but it was one I was willing to take. I had hidden my heart for so long and for the first time in a long time, Vincent was close to breaking down the walls.

When a trip to Vincent’s exclusive private island reveals the real Vincent underneath the layers of suave nonchalance, I thought we were close to the start of something special.

Just when things were looking up for us, I would discover the one secret that Vincent never intended for me to find.

Okay, wow. Book 2 goes super fast. We get a little more of an inside view of Kristen and Vincent's relationship, more of her work, and a smidge more of her history with Marty. I actually think in this book that I like Vincent a little more than Kristen. He was appropriately protective, very honest, and his reactions to things just seemed real. I liked Kristen and have no doubt many of us would have many of the same insecurities and doubts..but just because I understood where she was coming from didn't mean that I liked how she ended their last encounter. Up to that point, I thought she was maybe a bit ... not clingy, but focused?...but always honest about how she felt; the way she left things though was way too hasty. Yes. For such a strong beginning, I felt...underwhelmed by the beginning of the second installment. Like, I felt for a few moments that I might not be reading the same story. (As you can see we are reviewing these as we go along, and then letting you see everything all at once). But...hmmmm, I felt much less connected to Kristen's plight then Shel it seems, and have some serious reservations with immediately beginning book 3...but I am going to do it anyways, because I have to see how this shizz ends!

This one ends in a huge cliffhanger...thank goodness book 3 is out.

“What gives you a thrill Kristen?”

The conclusion to the Surrender Series by Priscilla West.

No one is who they seem to be.

Kristen let Vincent into her heart because he seemed so different from everyone in her conservative world of wealth management. She thought they shared something special, but when she realizes that Vincent has been playing her the entire time, her heart is crushed.

As Kristen’s relationship with Vincent reaches a crisis point, a man from Kristen’s past returns looking for a second chance. Is her ex-boyfriend really looking for redemption or is his goal something more sinister?

Kristen struggles to hold herself together, until she discovers a revelation that will change everything.

Alrighty then. Hmmm. What to say? Book 3 packs in a lot and it's short..so hold on tight, suspend any sense of this being realistic, and enjoy the ride. What you'll see is that all of the various plot points start coming together as well as flashbacks and one POV switch. There's also some serious drama at the end and an epilogue that gives us the HEA you'd want. We do get a lot in this last novella. Things definitely go out with a bang, and things happened that surprised me, excited me again, and just whoa...people be cray cray.

Series Rating: 3 stars
I would have to agree. I would say a solid 4 stars for #1, unfortunately I can only give 2 stars for #2, and to make things average out nicely I give 3 stars for book 3. There were many things I liked, and a few with pace and dialogue that I didn't but I don't regret reading more of Priscilla West's work at all, and would like to see how she continues to grow in writing in the future.
