REVIEW: FLY WITH ME by Chanel Cleeton

Shel: Admittedly we are new to all things Chanel Cleeton but after Between Shadows and Fly With Me you better believe that I will be reading all of her novels. I love that just looking at what she's written you can see that she's always changing things up and exploring different types of stories and that no matter what she writes, it's so freaking good. Court: I agree. She is new to us, but she is definitely not new to writing, so we have a ton of her back list to get to sometime this century and we are excited!

Shel: I've been holding on to Fly With Me for a while now (thank you Net Galley gods) because I had a feeling that I'd love it and that I'd be waiting for the next novel in the series..and somehow it made sense in my mind to wait? Duuuuude. Dude. I need the next novel like NOW. I finished Flying With Me  and it was incredible and I just want to jump into the next one and recapture those feels. Jordan and Noah's romance was a whirlwind, some may even call it insta-lust, and it totally worked. It was sexy as fuck and funny and sweet and angsty. I absolutely loved the choices Cleeton made for her characters--both Jordan and Noah were self-aware and considerate and passionate. I never felt manipulated or frustrated by their romance --it all happened in a way that felt 1000% right for them. I even remember thinking at one point in the middle/end that things could happen in one of two ways and without spoiling things, I'll say that I'm so very glad at the way Cleeton decided to make things happen because it felt so honest and true to Noah and Jordan. Court: The elements of their relationship was really realistic and great too. Having survived an extra-long distance part of my relationship, I felt every bit of their pain, and the military aspect was so raw and honest from both of them. They put their feelings out there, and even at the hardest they talked it out. There is so much to love about this book though, and like Shelley said - Jordan and Noah are sexy, and passionate and I wanted their story to go on and on and on. Easy...whoa, that boy is setting up to absolutely slay me, I can feel it. But...I will read it, and love it I know.

Shel: If I have any complaint it's that the novel ended and I wanted more. I wanted to know more about how their loved ones reacted to things. I wanted to know how they were going to handle things. I wanted to get to know some of their actual families a little more...basically I wanted about a kazillion pages more of them because I enjoyed reading about them so much. (You'll be happy to know that I tweet-harassed Chanel Cleeton and she confirmed that we'll see more of Noah and Jordan in the next two books. Yay!!!). Court: Right, that might be my only teeny complaint...her family especially had so many things to say about what they thought about her life choices, and we didn't really get any resolution to that. Maybe it'll come up as a side bar later down the road, but if not...I'll be alright, because the rest of the story more than made up for her bossy momma butting into things. This story was addictive and I never wanted to put it down. So, I didn't! Hello 2 am!! Again. Chanel rocked it, and I am so excited to read the next in this series.
