March 2018 FAVORITES

We really did not make the month of March a big deal for the blog--which should tell you a lot about the craziness of our lives. Why? Well, because March was our FIFTH YEAR ANNIVERSARY! Can you even believe it? Five years? FIVE YEARS. Five years we've written about novels and things. Five years we've tried things, failed at things, and seen this whole romance book blog thing change and morph in ways I don't know we could've predicted.

FIVE YEARS. Who would've thunk it? Our little blog may always be this little. We'll probably never blow up to Aestas or Vilma level readership. We'll forever be on the sidelines of the cool girl club (whatever that is) but we'll always be true to who we are.

So to those of you who are still hanging in there with us, thank you. We love all two of you :)

Now on the fun stuff:

We had some absolutely stunning reads last month. Let's take a look (and if something looks good, click on the cover and it'll take you to Amazon).

Long Shot by Kennedy Ryan-- Y'all. This novel will stick with you for months. It's intense and nuanced and will most definitely be on our 2018 list of favorites. For a look at how much love I had for this novel see our review.

The Swedish Prince by Karina Halle--This is one of my favorite rags to riches, Cinderella stories, ever. Karina Halle is always keeping us on our toes and it makes going blind into her novels so much fun. For more on why we enjoyed this one, check out our review.

Marriage of Inconvenience by Penny Reid-- Need something on the lighter end of the reading spectrum? Want smart writing? Looking for inventive ways of using the f-word? We have the best novel for you and here's our review if you need more convincing.

To Have and To Hold by Ketley Allison-- Y'all. She's flying so below the radar right now and that has to change. Ketley Allison writes such great romantic suspense novels and we want you alllll to read them. The first chapter in this novel had me by the throat and then I couldn't put it down, as evidenced by our review.

Sinner by Sierra Simone-- I devour every Sierra Simone book that comes my way. EVERY.SINGLE.ONE. I willingly sacrifice sleep to her word sorcery--which should say a lot, if not everything. Need more intel? Our review is a gush-fest of love for Sinner.

And that concludes this snapshot of our March 2018 favorites. Happy reading, y'all!

2017 March Favorites

This last month has been a really stellar reading month and full of us starting or returning to duets or trilogies. Surprisingly, I've been enjoying the torture inflicted by the authors behind these, even though I'm not usually a huge fan of the cliffhanger or having to wait to read the next book. All of the novels that have another book or two after it have been so well written that I know it'll be well worth the wait for the next ones to come out. AND! It gives us something to look forward to.  As usual, if you see something that looks good, click on the image and it'll take you to Amazon.

Grip and Flow by Kennedy Ryan--Maybe the best thing Kennedy Ryan has written so far. It not only addresses issues of trust and love and relationships, it addresses issues of race in a way that readers are relating to. REVIEWS here.

Something In The Way by Jessica Hawkins--This novel was something we hadn't seen before with Jessica Hawkins and we were completely taken with this novel and her dedication to pacing this story just right for her characters. I can't even get into it without writing a novella, but I think it's best to say the relationships in this novel have reached the Facebook status of: COMPLICATED. REVIEW here.

American Prince by Sierra Simone--a modern, sexier version of Camelot? Yep and in the way that's truly Sierra Simone--so it's sexy and smart and has us hanging by a thread to see who does what to whom and how. REVIEW here.

The Butterfly Project by Emma Scott--We know we're going to read something that's character rich when it comes to Emma Scott's novels and this one not only gave us interesting characters but the whole premise felt really fresh.REVIEW here.

Dirty Souls by Karina Halle--Thankfully this book came as quickly as it came; the ending of the first book had my heart racing and conspiracy theories lining up in my head. I am so excited with the return to these characters and cannot wait to see who Halle sets her sights on next. REVIEW here.

Insight by Santino Hassell--This writer has, in a very short amount of time, become one of my automatic 1-click authors. I enjoy his characters and humor, grit, and the adventures he writes for them. This novel was something I don't normally gravitate towards and I'm so glad that I read it and took a chance. REVIEW here.

A Boy Like You by Ginger Scott--I fell in love with this young adult novel when it was still in the edits stage and I haven't stopped thinking it about it since. Joss and Wes and all of the mysteriousness surrounding them have captured my heart and attention. REVIEW here.

Normally I'd insert my attempts at wittiness or a rant here, but honestly, I'm wiped out. I haven't taken a day off all year and I'm 8 school days away from spring break and I'm barely making it. Enjoy your reading this month and maybe next month I'll have something great to say!

FAVORITE READS: MARCH 2016 EDITION

Last month I lost my mind and tried to come up with three words to describe my favorites. I'll brave that one again someday but today is not that day. Without further adieu, here are some of our favorite reads from March (click on the image if you want the synopsis or want to purchase):

SPORTS ROMANCE:

Dahlia Adler + Right of First Refusal--I think this may be my new favorite of Adler's and I LOVE that her protagonist is the athlete and a female. These characters are funny and thoughtful and I'm looking forward to Frankie's book!

NEW TO US:

Hilaria Alexander + F U Cancer--emotional, funny, uplifting; definitely reading more of her work.

HOT TITLE/SWEET ROMANCE:

Laurelin Paige and Sierra Simone + Porn Star--these two writers are known for their searingly hot sex scenes but this time it was their sex positive porn stars that made it sweeter than hot and gave us some things to think about.

MUSICIANS:

Kennedy Ryan + Down To My Soul--The conclusion to this series delivered the angst and the romance!

Ginger Scott + In Your Dreams--A DJ and an up and coming singer songwriter "reconnect" over a song.

We read a lot this month and honestly I think we enjoyed them ALL so narrowing it down to just a few was really hard.  All of our March Reviews are posted on our Reviews page and on the left side bar of the main blog page; just click on the month and they're right there! Thanks so much for reading and here's to April.
