REVIEW: Crying Wolfe by Kerrigan Byrne

 

REVIEW:

Kerrigan Byrne gets me every single time--I should know better than to pick up anything she writes if I don't have the proper time to devote to inhaling it in a single sitting. She has this way of making me completely invested in her characters within paragraphs. In the case of Crying Wolfe, I fell in love with Rosaline and Eli from the very first scene. I mean what's not to love? A thief, a shotgun wedding, an unlikely pairing that ends up showcasing surprisingly deep feelings and of course I'm going to be hooked--and you are too. I'm telling you, you are going to sit down thinking that you're going to read a few pages and hours later, find yourself finished and reaching for the very next Kerrigan Byrne novel. Loved it!

REVIEW: The Devil in Her Bed by Kerrigan Byrne

OUR REVIEW:

I've loved reading the stories of the Red Rogues--each story has been interesting and filled with strong friendships and strong women. And as much as I've enjoyed each novel, I've officially found my new favorite Kerrigan Byrne in The Devil in Her Bed. 

I've been insanely curious about the story of Francesca and this novel not only gives the history but gives me a heroine who is so fierce and independent and strong that I can't imagine another character topping her in my top favorite heroines. I loved her story--her bravery, sleuthing, and lack of effs to give filled my entire afternoon. I enjoyed being a fly on the wall as she solved the mystery of the slaughter of her childhood and 'seeing' Chandler become completely smitten by her. He really was the perfect partner for her--he had his own secrets, matched her strength and stubbornness and also had run out of effs to give--and reading his reactions to her was just so much fun.

As what I'm assuming is the final novel featuring the Red Rogues comes to an end, it was fun to see what Cecilia and Alexandra were up to and to see all three of them have their happily ever afters. And while I'm sad to see them go, I'm excited to explore even more of the characters and stories written by Kerrigan Byrne.

OUR REVIEW:

 I’m pretty powerless when it comes to Kerrigan Byrne. I find her heroines fierce and interesting and fun (and sometimes funny) to read and her heroes are a good balance of feminist and smart, with a dash of snarling alpha thrown in for good measure.

In this short novel, Mercy and Raphael are given the Kerrigan Byrne treatment. There’s a problem to be solved, love to be realized (but only after being denied, of course), and a chaotic moment that throws everything into relief and realization. I enjoyed this quick read—the story, the banter, and the set up for the next Goode sister’s story (one I’m dying to read).

REVIEW: All Scot and Bothered by Kerrigan Byrne

 

OHMYGOD. I love this series. Admittedly, I'm fairly new to all things Kerrigan Byrne but I have read a few of her novels and short stories and I want to read all of her work because it's just so dang engaging. 

In the case of All Scot and Bothered and Cecelia and Lord Ramsay, I absolutely adored their push and pull and especially loved how independent Cecilia was. Even knowing the Red Rogues and their desire to be independent women, I found Cecelia's brand of strong woman to be so appealing (while thinking about how far we've come and how glad I'll hopefully never have to fight for my right to be who I want). I also enjoyed how Cecelia and Ramsay were on a collision course of wills and love and we could all see it and knew it was coming and yet there was no way to dream up how much fun it was to read them struggling against each other and for each other. The intrigue of who was behind the misdeeds going on behind the scenes, the involvement of Cecelia and Ramsay and their friends and family, and resolution of that subplot were interesting and well done. 

I'm absolutely thrilled that there's at least one more book coming out in this series and I have an idea of who will be coupled up and I CANNOT WAIT. It's going to be so much fun.

REVIEW: Courting Trouble by Kerrigan Byrne

OUR REVIEW:

 As a new reader of Kerrigan Bryne’s historical romances, Courting Trouble stood out as something a little different than what I’ve come across before. Usually I expect to read about two head strong characters who have to find a way to use that fire for them rather than to burn everything down. It always works for me—delights me, even. In the case of Courting Trouble, the heroine was a little more meek, although surprisingly bold in her adulthood, and I liked how unexpected she was. The hero, Titus, was dreamy and wonderful and while he had more of the typical strong traits I anticipated, he also was a more gentle soul. 

I think I’ve read so many alpha characters lately that I’ve forgotten how lovely it is to read a novel featuring two characters who are genuinely good humans. The hurt-ache and angsty bits were there but not too heavy handed and the storyline has me anxious to go back to any of the previous books I’ve missed in this series and also anticipating the two books I think are coming.

Courting Trouble was a fun, quick read. Perfect for the next free weekend you have to read.
