MUSIC MONDAY (11): U2 & Natalia Kills

Music Monday is a weekly feature we love to read by Jessica @ Lovin' Los Libros and since I have music playing at all times of the day, no matter what is going on (even to read) I talked Shel into spreading our music love with you!

Shelley Chose: U2
My life's goal, currently, is to see this band live before I die or they retire. I have loved them since, well, forever and I can always count on their songs to enlighten, enliven, or entertain me. Some people are into them for their causes, their campaigns, their passions...and while I adore them for all of that, I mostly adore them for their music. Enjoy!

Courtney Chose: Natalia Kills
I first heard her song problem on a Rachel Zoe shoe commercial, you know the one where the grocery store is full of nothing but shoes? Well of course I ignored the shoes but I had to know who sang that song! (Yes, I know, a little odd but I own it) Then it was fate that another was a free download on iTunes last week and now I've just fell in a bit of love with this album! Play on, folks!

MUSIC MONDAY (10): In This Moment & Regina Spektor

Music Monday is a weekly feature we love to read by Jessica @ Lovin' Los Libros and since I have music playing at all times of the day, no matter what is going on (even to read) I talked Shel into spreading our music love with you!

Court's pick this week: In This Moment
So I first heard In This Moment at the beginning of this year (and sadly they were in my town in May and I didn't get to go...dang sister graduating college and all that ;)..lol) but I kinda fell in love with Maria Brink. I am a huge rock fan, but there really isn't that many women in a lot of the bands..let alone lead vocalist. She is also awesome because she is 36 and a mom..and seems pretty bad ass...and different. Might be a little different for some, but I hope you'll find at least one song that you like. Beast Within, Whore, and Adrenalize are some of my favs!

Shelley's Pick is...Regina Spektor's Begin to Hope

One of my sweet students introduced me to Regina Spektor a few years ago and I love her sweet voice with her sharp lyrics. The romance of her voice is deceptive and so sometimes when you listen to the words the undercurrent is a little surprising. I admit I have to be in the mood to listen to her or every song runs into the next...but I think she's definitely worth a listen if you've never heard her before!

MUSIC MONDAY (9): Taylor Swift & Justin Timberlake

Music Monday is a weekly feature we love to read by Jessica @ Lovin' Los Libros and since I have music playing at all times of the day, no matter what is going on (even to read) I talked Shel into spreading our music love with you!

Courtney's pick this week:
Taylor Swift's Fearless Album

So Taylor gets a bad wrap, like 99% of the time. But I still love her. I love every song, and while sure  a lot of them are about breaking up or being heartbroken at 2 a.m. there are just as many about a girl's relationship with her mom, her best friends, and being in love. So I love Taylor and I love this album a lot. Listen to Fearless. I want to be fearless, in everything I do.

And as my own little public service announcement after the atrocity that was the VMA's last week...this is a role model for young girls. She embraces it and sure...she dates a lot of people, but doesn't twerk...and for that I am thankful! (Why is twerking a thing? Somebody please make it go away.)

Shelley's pick this week:
Justin Timberlake's Future Sex/Love Sounds

My little sister introduced me to JT as a solo artist and since she is 9 years younger than me I was fairly convinced that I absolutely could not like him. I was certain that my coolness factor would go down by at least 100 if I even tried to listen to him. Then I saw his concert on HBO. Then I sort of crushed on him...like a lot. Now, I fully embrace my love of JT--even if radio stations overplay his new releases by a thousand. He totally rocked the VMA's and I am now on a mission to see him live.

MUSIC MONDAY (8): Adele & The All-American Rejects

Music Monday is a weekly feature we love to read by Jessica @ Lovin' Los Libros and since I have music playing at all times of the day, no matter what is going on (even to read) I talked Shel into spreading our music love with you!

Court's pick this week: The All-American Reject's self titled album
I picked this one because I have been doing a lot of homework and listening to music therefore letting my iTunes just play. The Last Song came on recently and kick started some nostalgia. That coupled with a certain coming of age novel we reviewed yesterday, and it definitely took me back. I love tAAR's music both then and now, but this is by far my favorite whole album!

Shel's pick this week:
I was reminded, recently, by my daughters that we love Adele. Together, we've been crooning her songs on our way to gymnastics class or to run errands and while still angsty, way more appropriate for my girls to listen to than last week's option...Rage Against the Machine. I'm still a little disgruntled with the powers that be so I'm still living my angst through music..but this is a kinder, gentler way to work through it this week. Enjoy!

MUSIC MONDAY 6: Rage Against the Machine & Lily Allen

Music Monday is a weekly feature we love to read by Jessica @ Lovin' Los Libros and since I have music playing at all times of the day, no matter what is going on (even to read) I talked Shel into spreading our music love with you!

Court's Pick this week: Lily Allen
My Lily Allen love thus far has been with a few singles, but I haven't heard a song by her that I haven't liked! I will be very happy to expand my library with her music. I love her voice...and well, her attitude. Her song F**k You is a true testament to that. She seems very bold and I love it!

Shel's Pick this week: Rage Against the Machine

Um. Well. I have no excuses here...I'm kinda raging against the machine of work currently. I'll settle back in and be more appreciative soon...but for now...I'm feeling "Killing in the Name" a lot. Hard. As in I may listen to it on the way to work. Give me a week, I'll probably mellow out. This is another album that has some great, angsty work out songs on it...but probably not suitable for work.Enjoy!
