REVIEW: FUELED BY K.BROMBERG

Book #2 of the Driven Trilogy

What happens when the one person you never expected suddenly happens to be the one you’ll fight the hardest to keep?

Colton stole my heart. He wasn't supposed to, and I sure as hell didn't want him to, but he crashed into my life, ignited feelings within me that I thought had died forever, and fueled a passion that I never knew could exist.

Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet and into my life. Now I don't think I'll ever be the same. She's seen glimpses of the darkness within me, and yet she's still here. Still fighting for me. She is without a doubt the saint, and I am most definitely the sinner.

How is it the one thing neither of us wanted—neither of us anticipated that fateful night—has us fighting so hard to keep?

He steals my breath, stops my heart, and brings me back to life again all in a split second of time. But how can I love a man who won't let me in? Who continually pushes me away to prevent me from seeing the damaged secrets in his past? My heart has fallen, but patience and forgiveness can only go so far.

How can I desire a woman who unnerves me, defies me, and forces me to see that in the deep, black abyss of my soul there's someone worthy of her love? A place and person I swore I'd never be again. Her selfless heart and sexy body deserve so much more than I'll ever be capable of giving her. I know I can't be what she needs, so why can't I just let her go?

We are driven by need and fueled with desire, but is that enough for us to crash into love?

Let me tell you right now that I started and finished Driven and Fueled in the last 24 hours and I can foresee that my patience for book 3 is nonexistent. HMPH. I foolishly thought I could spread out these books so that by the time I finished the 2nd one I might not have too long of a wait to get to book 3...obviously I was an idiot. How can anyone finish book 1 and not immediately rush to book 2?!!! IMPOSSIBLE..it's impossible.

Book 2 starts immediately where book 1 ends and then proceeds to basically rip your heart out...
s-l-o-w-l-y.  Don't get me wrong, there are some really awesome, fun, great parts but I had a feeling going in to this that we'd have some drama...a few moments, if you will, of make you want to kill someone drama..if for no other reason than that book 3 is coming in March. I was right. Rylee and Colton have the kind of passion and chemistry that creates sparks in and out of the bedroom. The sexy banter, fun texts, and hot scenes are even hotter....their filthy mouths are just so deliciously filthy. The tender moments are heart squeezing and their fucked up moments are a million times more fucked up. (Sorry Courtney...Amazon is totally gonna censor this review!). And honestly, the fucked up, confusing, conflicting angst that is normal in new relationships is just completely elevated to a new amped up level of fuckedupedness for a large part of this book.

Colton, as we know, has issues. I'll give him credit--in his own obtuse way, he is actually trying to be open to making things work with Rylee...he just doesn't always know how to. When he's good--he's really, really good and when he's not...well, it's awful. Rylee ...Rylee...Rylee. WTF am I gonna do with her? She does so many things that are good, right, patient, loving. And she makes the mistakes we all would make and I totally felt for her. When a major moment hits things down fast--he reacts as we would suspect and she gets so twisted, confused, locked into her inner turmoil that she has a hard time stepping back and looking at things from all angles. I honestly cannot say I blame Rylee or that her reactions are any different than what I would think or feel..but since I want my HEA while at the same time I wanted her to be strong (and punishing!) I was struggling with conflicted feelings. Lots of struggling with emotions here.

Thank god for Becks and Haddie...and the boys at the house. These are my heroes. They offer some great insights and hope. (And, fingers crossed--maybe some of THEIR stories will be next in line?!!). Becks and Haddie are exactly the kind of friends everyone should have--they offer comfort and cut the bullshit as needed.

Tawny and the BBB's can rot. Effing asshole beotches. May they be given their comeuppance in book 3. HMPH.

Zander. I have predictions but will keep them to myself...but I definitely see a continuation of his story or at least part of it in book 3! I hope he gets the ending he deserves!

READ THIS SERIES...it's a page turner!

Shelley: 5 Stars

I'm just gonna put my little miniscule thoughts down here, because first, this hasn't happened probably ever.... But this one. I just am not in the right frame of mind for it or something, so I can't hack it. Can't finish it. I am not enjoying it, but if there was ever a time that it is AWESOME that we have differing viewpoints it will be with this series. Shelley loved it. I haven't so far...and I am telling myself this is a good thing because differences aren't bad, and maybe trying to make sense. I've been working on this one a good while, and have decided the pace isn't working for me. So I have decided to DNF at 50%...I know, that is a good long effort, but I am just not loving it...even though I see all of the wonderful reasons Shelley did. Sighs. Jerkface signing off here! Ack! Sorry guys! No sense to be had. It is one of those...it's not Fueled, it's me.

COVER REVEAL: CRASHED BY K. BROMBERG

Synopsis:

When life crashes down around us, how hard are we willing to fight for the one thing we can’t live without, each other?

Life is full of moments.
Big moments.
Little moments.
And none of them are inconsequential.
Every single moment prepares you for that one instance that defines your life. You must overcome all your fears, confront the demons that chase you, and cleanse the poison that clings to your soul or you risk the chance of losing everything.

Mine started the minute Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet. She made me feel. Made me whole when all I thought I could ever be was incomplete. Became the lifeline I never knew I needed. Hell yes, she’s worth the fight…but how do you fight for someone you know you don’t deserve?

Love is full of ups and downs.
Heart stopping highs.
Soul shattering lows.
And none of them are insignificant.
Love is a racecourse of unexpected twists and turns that must be negotiated. You have to break down walls, learn to trust, and heal from your past in order to win. But sometimes it’s the expected that’s the hardest to hold on to.

Colton has healed and completed me, stolen my heart, and made me realize our love’s not predictable nor perfect—it’s bent. And bent’s okay. But when outside factors put our relationship to the test, what lengths will I have to go to prove to him that he’s worth the fight?

Whoever said love is patient and love is kind, never met the two of us.  We know our love is worth it—have acknowledged that we were meant to be—but when our pasts crash into our future, will the repercussions make us stronger or break us apart?

Driven Synopsis

Rylee Thomas is used to being in control. But she’s about to meet the one man that just might make her enjoy losing it…

I am the exception to the rule.

In a world full of willing women, I’m a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He’s the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track.

Colton crashes into my life like a tornado: sapping my control, testing my vulnerabilities beyond their limits, and unintentionally penetrating the protective wall around my healing heart. Tearing apart the world I rebuilt so carefully with structure, predictability, and discipline.

I can’t give him what he wants and he can’t give me what I need. But after a glimpse beneath his refined exterior into the dark secrets of his damaged soul, can I bring myself to walk away?

Our sexual chemistry is undeniable. Our individual need for complete control is irrefutable. But when our worlds collide, is the chemistry enough to bring us together or will our untold secrets and battle of wills force us apart?

Our Review---
Courtney initially brought this series to my attention..if I recall correctly, it's gaining a ton of blogger end of the year awards and blogger love. We love and trust our fellow bloggers so we put it on our TBR list and when it popped up on Amazon Prime, I absolutely could not resist downloading it...IMMEDIATELY. I considered it an early Christmas treat to myself and just so you know...my next treat will be book 2 because I feel like I cannot stop reading about Rylee and Colton. Yeah, fairly certain the exact thing I saw was a smut book club award for the series either for in-the-rain sex or hood-of-the-car sex...and either reason to win a smut book club award and I was like "OMG SHELLEY, we have to read this." because that's how we roll! \m/ lol!

The synopsis gives you a taste of the story of these two (Rylee and Colton) so I won't rehash the fact that they have that electrifying chemistry that we love in our smut books (or maybe I will...) and I definitely don't want to spoil anything...but if you're like me, you want to know if you should read this and why. I think you're good. I didn't feel like the blurb really helped me figure out much how the story was going to go! And Shel gives NOTHING away to me! sigh. lol! But it was nice like she says to "discover it as it happens" without any spoilers...no matter how much I beg! And did I beg!

Rylee is this really smart, witty, and large hearted counselor who works for an amazing organization that takes care of young boys who have no other home to go to. She works tirelessly for the organization and her boys and is trying to find funding to not only maintain but expand what her organization does. Colton is the son of a Hollywood bigwig and is also a star by his own rights. He is a well known race car driver, is quite the ladies man and absolutely not anything Rylee is interested in. At an auction to raise money Rylee and Colton have a run in and the electricity that zaps between these two could light up Times Square..and then some. Their initial "encounter" if you will is very interesting...and hot. But then I totally see why Rylee has reason to come off as a b-word their for a bit. Then...it just kept on coming...gah, that girl spent more time in her head than I do not know what, and therefore made me take a while to warm up to her. I don't think I did at all until she goes to work and we see her in action over there! I was screaming at my kindle "Stop being frigid. You know you're gonna let him all up in your kool-aid...so just stop!" I don't know that she listened!

These two have issues. We know more about Rylee's...a little of Colton's...and while it's not super angsty, there are definite moments when you want to smack Colton while simultaneously hugging him and/or making out with him. He's just so infuriating (as are his BBB). Meanwhile, there are times that I want to cheer for Rylee's honesty and yet want to build a suit of armor to protect her--all at the same time (thank goodness for Haddie)! I do like Haddie. And she called it. As much as I want to run over Colton with his race car for being a grade-A douchebag, omigah he is damaged and funny and charming and mostly smarmy with some of his pick up lines...but I would probably fall for it hook, line and sinker...because I'm a sucker. So for that...I am dying to read the next book. His hot and cold back and forth is worth than the weather changes in the midwest...and let me tell you that is seriously insane stuff...so keep that in mind...and don't give up on this one! The hot and cold Colton will give you whiplash, so I'm not sure how I feel about that even still...but I was not put off enough to a)not finish the book and b) want to read the next installment.

The chemistry is off the charts...the sexual tension, his filthy mouth...GAH! It's good stuff. I have to agree with you on this one. It's the BBB (blonde bimbo brigade) that makes me want to smack him! But when he is 100% in the zone with trying to impress Rylee I got all melty inside. I need to smack myself for that too!

The ending, as I was telling Courtney, isn't really an ending or necessarily a cliffhanger...it's just insurance that you will absolutely, 100% read the next book..and I will! I will admit that the ending to this book makes me nervous about how book 2 will end since book 3 doesn't come out until March. If it ends like book 1, I might just die. I do. And because I am an avid prime member I cannot it for another day, but will most definitely be downloading at the first opportunity! Luckily the teaser for the next book is available to read at the end of this one. Please and Thank You KB, you about gave me an ulcer...!
