REVIEW: Fearless by Lauren Gilley

OUR REVIEW:

A fellow bookish friend strongly recommended Fearless and I now must pay it forward. Here's a brief list of reasons to read it:

1. It's well written and plotted...and sub-plotted.
2. The characters and their plights are interesting.
3. Lauren Gilley writes the south accurately and descriptively
4. It's both an epic romance and an odyssey of sorts.
5. Features a motorcycle club.
6. Has multiple povs.
7. Is nice and long and ties up all loose ends of the characters featured.
8. Has many other books in the series.

This just barely scratches the surface of why I wanted to speed read it and also never finish it. I should also note that as I was reading, I often thought that Kristin Ashley fans would really enjoy this novel, too.

Synopsis:

From the author of the Walker Series comes a family drama like no other, a sprawling character epic, a forbidden love story full of angst, adventure, heartbreak, and second chances. Welcome to the mother chapter of the Lean Dogs Motorcycle Club; meet the girl raised by outlaws, and the fearsome man who will always hold her heart.

Ava Teague left for college with a busted heart and a deeply ingrained love for her biker family. She returns home to Knoxville for grad school, just in time for her father to accept the burden of president…and for Mercy Lécuyer to roll back into town, looking to patch into the Tennessee chapter once more. She’ll steer clear of him, she tells herself. She has a new life, a new boyfriend, and a new outlook. But she can’t shake her DNA. And maybe she doesn’t want to.

Felix Lécuyer left the swamps of Louisiana for a life as an outlaw biker named Mercy, but it was his family, and the retribution he dealt because of it, that made him famous within the club. Fourteen years ago he fled New Orleans for Knoxville, to become an extractor and bodyguard within the mother chapter, guarding Ghost Teague’s family, becoming a constant companion to little Ava. When she was seventeen, he finally crossed the line. Now she’s twenty-two, and he’s back in town as an old nemesis rears its ugly head, and puts the entire club in danger. The fate of the club is uncertain, but Mercy has no doubts about his heart; it still belongs to Ava.

Now available as a complete novel, Fearless launches a thrilling new series about the Lean Dogs of Tennessee, and the women tough enough to love them. Look for Book II, Price of Angels, coming March 2015.

Sex life: MIA

There’s just one thing missing from Gia Renyard’s life: sexual adventure. And the one man she’d like to have it with is her hot co-worker, Luke Monroe. If only company rules didn’t prohibit her from asking him out. So Gia comes up with a plan: make herself over into a fantasy seductress, follow Luke to a convention in Sin City, and have her way with him for one erotic weekend. The man will never even know who did him.
Everything is going according to plan—until Gia discovers that Luke is perfect for her outside the bedroom too. And suddenly she’s no longer content to let what happens in Vegas stay in Vegas…

Our Review:
This novella is the perfect read for a rainy, cold afternoon. It's a super quick and entertaining read and something that can be finished in one sitting. It is super fun and fairly low angst! We were ready for it!

The premise--Gia wants to have just one...ONE night of hot, lusty, unforgettable sex before she grows old and settles down but has never acted on it. Her best friends concoct a plan to help her live out her fantasy...the one catch? Gia wants this one night to be with a super-hot co-worker, Luke, and there is a no dating policy at her company..plus she's terrified of being laughed out of town. None of this stops her besties from putting the plan into play and one killer make over and name change later, and Gia finds herself living out her fantasy.

I thought her plan was pretty out there and funny, and almost felt bad for her that it worked! Because he says such a man thing like "I would definitely remember you" but yet, he doesn't. That would suck...coming from your every fantasy. But that fact that it helps her become more confident and feel sexy about herself is awesome and I hoped that she would find a way to meet in the middle with that version and the version that she saw herself as!

After one hot fantasy filled night and Gia is thunderstruck with the reality that Luke may figure out who she is and that freaks her out (along with the actual feelings she finds herself feeling!), so she flees. Of course, the forces of nature work against her and she has to figure out how to navigate the suddenly uncomfortable working conditions around Luke and potentially job ending waters she now finds herself in. Will he figure it out and bust her? Can they pick up where they left off? Hmmmm.

Hhhmmmmm indeed. It was less detailed sexy wise than I thought it would be, but their flashbacks after the fact were pretty hot. This is a fun novella, and is definitely one that is worth reading! Fearless was as much a quick journey to finding her sexual journey as finding herself. She fights to prove herself to move up in her job, and of course as with every novella I wanted more of Gia and Luke and her group of friends! They are fun and opinionated and totally have her back! Especially Caryn.

This is a fun read...not too deep...not something that's super angsty..more like one of those that you just find yourself entertained by and don't question too much how it would all REALLY happen, you just go with it! :) Totally. I really enjoyed it!
