STAY EXCERPT by A.L. Jackson

STAY

A Bleeding Stars Stand-Alone Novel

Coming January 23rd

She stared back at me with big chocolate eyes. Molten. Her gaze washed over me like lava. Burning up everything in its path. You are so beautiful, she said, voice hoarse. Peaches, I whispered as a warning. Wasn’t sure I trusted myself with her right then. You are. Did you know...did you know the first time I saw you...when you were lying covered in blood and you opened your eyes and looked at me, that I saw it? Something so beautiful and raw and powerful. Even when you’d been broken. The way you looked at me shook me straight to my bones. And then tonight...what you did for me...I don’t...͟ I roughed a hand through my thrashing hair, a perfect mirror to my thrashing heart. Peaches.Another warning. I didn’t deserve the way she was looking at me. Like I was good and right when I was no better than the bastard we’d left lying back there on the floor. So slowly, she reached out, shaking fingers gentle as she traced them along the scar that marked that night beneath my eye. A tremble took me whole. Energy pulsed and shivered and shook. Shit. I gripped her by the wrist and pressed the underside to my nose. You’re killing me, darlin’.And you’re saving me.A hard frown hit me. It was you who did all the saving.Sitting back a fraction, she shook her head. If it weren’t for you, I’d be home tonight, hiding in the dark. Her tongue darted out to sweep across her lips. I never would have been brave enough to go there or to stand up to him. To say those things. But that’s where I think you’re wrong, darlin’. This time it was my turn to reach out and touch her. I cupped the side of her face, glancing between her and the road. I think you’re so much braver than you’ve been giving yourself credit for. I see it there. Feel it every time I look at you. You’re incredible, Willow. Every time you walk through my door, I know it. So good that I know I shouldn’t be doing whatever the fuck it is I think I’m doin’ with you.She was still panting those breathy pants, and she leaned into my touch. I...͟ she attempted before she looked down, averted her gaze. Even with her head downturned, there was no missing the blush creeping to her cheeks. She hesitated before she spoke. When you kiss me...it doesn’t feel like pretending. It feels like the best thing I’ve ever felt.I swallowed hard, crossing a line. Pushing into the boundaries that should have been firmly set in place. That’s because when I kiss you? It’s not pretend. When I tell you you’re gorgeous—the best thing I’ve ever seen? I mean it. And when I look at you...͟I touched the center of my chest, feeling ripped open wide. Exposed. Maybe telling her the truth when it wouldn’t do either of us any good was wrong. But there was no hiding when this girl was looking at me that way. I feel it right here. We might be pretending, but you can’t fake this.Like she didn’t trust herself, she pressed farther against the door. You make me want things...things I know I shouldn’t want. And what is it you want, Peaches? I prodded low, knowing full well I was pointing us in the direction of no return. Told you when I came into your store that I’d give you anything.I want...͟ She tucked her bottom lip between her teeth, nervous or unsure whether to give me the truth. Blood pounded mercilessly through my veins. Thickened with lust. All of it clouded my judgment, knocking loose my center of gravity. Because I knew the look on her face. Desire was written across her like a musical score. The way her body rocked and trembled and silently pled. Desperate to be played. I knew I should close my mouth. Shut this down. Drop her at home. Instead, I let the words slide free. Tell me, Peaches. The needy rasp fell from between her lips. I want you to touch me.

REVIEW: Wait by A.L. Jackson

  Wait Release Banner     ALJackson-WaitBookCover5x8_BW_HIGH

OUR REVIEW:

Court and I are in an interesting position since we've not read any of the other books in this series-- we don't have an history with these characters so we didn't have any preconceived notions about what should or would happen. I think this mostly works, except in the very beginning. For the first part of the novel I have to admit there was a lot of vague and dramatic references to things I didn't really understand; I didn't know enough about who Edie and Austin were to each other and I found it both frustrating and interesting. So, if you're like us and new to this series, I'd say that within pages/chapters of Edie and Austin finding each other again many of the things I didn't 'get' were explained and before I knew it I was so far into their romance that my earlier confusion/frustrations were gone.

Edie and Austin have got to be two of the most tortured twenty-somethings I've read in a while. Both of them had been through such horrifying experiences and it was only in finding and loving each other that either of them felt whole and healed...until it all fell apart again and again and again. A.L. Jackson had no qualms putting these two through the ringer. For Edie and Austin it was really a second chance at romance, it was more like a third or fourth chance and it's only through the grace of A.L. Jackson that Austin got it together enough (FINALLY) for these two to have a chance at the happiness that we saw glimmers of throughout the flashbacks and weeks they had in the present before things went very very wrong.

I'm sure that fans of this series will love not only the story of Austin and Edie but they'll also love seeing the other members of Sunder too. And for those new to the series, I bet you'll want to go back and read all of the previous novels to fill in the gaps that we discovered in this one.

From NYT & USA Today bestselling author comes a new Bleeding Stars stand-alone novel… She is his strength and he is her weakness. And this time he won’t let her go.   Edie Evans is gorgeous. Sexy. Kind. She’s also the definition of off-limits. But that didn't stop me from sneaking into her room to comfort her at night. But guys like me? We destroy everything, so it should have been no surprise when I destroyed us, too. The night I sent her running, I thought I’d never see her again. Until I saw her standing like a vision in the crowd.   Austin Stone is dangerous. Alluring. Tempting. He broke my heart and I refused to give him the chance to do it again. It’s been years since I’ve seen him, and now I can’t do anything but stare at the gorgeous, tattooed man playing onstage. I should run. I know I should. But like a fool, I run straight back to him. Our desire is overpowering. Our need unrelenting. She is my hope. He is my weakness. We should have known a passion this intense would burn us right into the ground.

“Shit,” I hissed, bracing myself against the spray of the icy shards pelting from the shower head. I sucked in a breath, released it between clenched teeth, and forced myself fully under it. Head dropped and chest heaving as rivers of ice-cold water slicked down my shoulders and back. But it did nothing to lessen the need. Gave me no sanity or pacification. Because all I could think about was the girl on the other side of the door. My girl. In my bed. Wearing just her panties and my shirt. An angel I wanted to dirty. I always had. Love was messy like that. All of my restraint scattered. I gripped my cock. Squeezed the base. My mouth dropped open at the pressure of my hand against my rigid length. A fool thinking it might be enough. Shit. God, I was a bastard, but there was nothing I could do before I was giving in, leaning forward and bracketing my forearm above my head to hold my weight. Water pounded down on my head and back while I pounded my fist against my dick. Trying to keep silent when all I wanted was to moan, teeth digging into my bottom lip as I pictured the girl spread out for me. My breaths were coming short. Panted and hard. I gave into imagining the sounds she would make when I finally got to bury myself in her body. A soft, soft gasp. I slowed, trying to convince myself that throaty sound was all in my mind. Just another part of this fantasy. Until I heard the small thump against the wall. Shit. I mashed my eyes closed, like it might hide me. Conceal the depravity of my actions after I’d just been comforting her hours before. Heart thrashing, I turned and moved far enough to peek out the small section where the fabric shower curtain hadn’t been drawn fully closed. It was just a little sliver that left me exposed. But it was enough. When I peered out, I was looking right at my girl pressed up against the wall. She stared right back at me. And I wanted to be horrified, my mind scrambling to conjure every weak apology I could summon. Ready to fucking grovel to keep her from turning and running once again. Because that’s exactly what I expected her to do. But her expression…her expression clutched me in the center of the chest and sent what little brain function I had left stampeding south. Red, lush lips were parted, her hand pressed to her hollow of her throat, pupils dilated so big that her hooded, cerulean eyes appeared black. Needy breaths were coming at me from that sweet mouth like a goddamned freight train. Desire swelled in the confines of the too-tight room. Alive. She pressed deeper into the wall as if it might support her weakened knees. Head rocked back. Thighs squeezing together. Motherfuck. My hand shot to the shower wall to steady myself. “Warning you, Edie, you need to get out of here. Right now.”         Wait_20

SALE: When We Collide by A.L. Jackson

From the bestselling author of Pulled and Take This Regret comes a gripping new tale of loss and love.

William has spent six years running from his past and the last eight months trying to rid his mind of the dreams that increasingly haunt his nights. Trapped in a world of false ambitions and feigned affections, William knows he’s reached a breaking point and something’s going to give.

Maggie had lived her entire life without hope until one man showed her what it meant to be loved. He’d been her light in a lifetime of darkness. Six years ago, that darkness stole him away. Without him, she’s surrendered herself to an existence she doesn’t know how to escape.

When the family William left behind is struck by tragedy, he is called back to the one place he’s sworn to never return to again.

In a moment that will change his life forever, William comes face to face with the girl who, with one look, captured his heart. He is unable to ignore the buried desires and the hope for the future they’d once believed they’d have.

Now William is ready to fight to take back what had been stolen from him six years before.
But he never imagined what that fight might cost him.

A.L. Jackson gives you an intimate look into the lives of a family bound by an unseen connection in this new contemporary romance.

A.L. Jackson is the New York Times bestselling author of contemporary and new adult romance.

She first found a love for writing during her days as a young mother and college student.  She filled the journals she carried with short stories and poems used as an emotional outlet for the difficulties and joys she found in day-to-day life.

Years later, she shared a short story she’d been working on with her two closest friends and, with their encouragement, this story became her first full length novel. A.L. now spends her days writing in Southern Arizona where she lives with her husband and three children.
