REVIEW: Hidden Seams by Alessandra Torre

REVIEW:

Shel: EVERY SINGLE BOOK by Alessandra Torre gets me. Every single one. I always think I'm going to start it and then get other things done and then NOPE, I find myself glued to her words until either I'm finished or sleep gets me first. Hidden Seams was no different. I started it last night and finished it early this morning. Court: Amen to NOPE! Her book starts, and it speaks to you and says "You will sit here and you will love me." And it is right. I don't know quite how she does it, but I love that she does it. Over and over and over.

Shel: I love how unlikely Hidden Seams is--I seriously cannot imagine the lives that Marco and Avery lead. His existence is so far removed from my pedantic lifestyle that I can't fathom having someone wait on my every movement, nor can I imagine living as a beard for as long as he did. And Avery? She's just such a badass that I can't fathom how she even really managed not to get shot at every turn. Court: I love that bit of escapism though, don't you. Sometimes it is trenchy to get in there with every day things, so that aspect draws me in...and then makes it so I also get something out of their style of life and love. Alessandra can keep me me on my toes all day every day if she'd like!

Shel: It's this unlikeliness that makes it absolutely perfect escapist fiction. I loved diving into their stories, their romance, their small deceptions, and their dreamy ending. It's the craziest fun Cinderella story that I've read in quite a while--and such a change from the emotional roller coaster of The Ghostwriter. Alessandra Torre can write anything--I've known this for a while now and this just confirms it. I'm eager to see what world she plunges us into next. Court: She can. She absolutely can. I love reading her stories, especially now that she provides a bit of insight into her writing process, and how things work for her. It is fun to see all sides of her creating life in her books, and is addicting to see what she is going to come up with next. I like this one for it's levity and break (You're right. The Ghostwriter about killed me!) I can't wait to see what she writes about next!

SYNOPSIS:

From a New York Times Bestseller comes the story of a billion-dollar fortune and the sex, lies, and betrayal that surrounds it...

I've worked a decade for this. I've sold my soul and my reputation. I've lived a lie, smiled for the cameras, and hated myself, all for this fortune.

And then ... she pops up. A mysterious heir with a rap sheet, combat boots, and a mouth that I want to pin shut with my--
It doesn't matter. I've played this game for a decade. I can continue the charade a little longer, keep my hands to myself and her body out of my mind.

I can keep my secret until the ink dries and everything is mine.
Or not.
